COMPOSITE STRUCTURES FOR LOCALIZED STIFFENING
A reinforcing device comprising a composite reinforcing patch including a first layer comprising a first activatable material that is flexible and tacky in its green state prior to activation, a second layer comprising a stabilizing material selected from a mesh, a film, a chemical coating, a fibrous or spherical material, or a second activatable material located in planar contact with the activatable material and along the entirety of a first surface of the activatable material, and an optional third layer comprising a mesh, a film, a chemical coating, second activatable material, or a release paper located in planar contact with the activatable material and along the entirety of a surface of the first layer or second layer, wherein upon activation of the activatable material, the presence of the second layer, the optional third layer, or both provides dimensional stability to the activatable material and minimizes shrinking of the activatable material.
DOOR SERVICE HOLE COVER
Systems and apparatus for a vehicle for improving occupant safety and covering a service hole of a door of the vehicle. The system includes a substantially flat body portion configured to cover the service hole. The system also includes a plurality of energy absorbers disposed across the body portion, each energy absorber having a top portion and one or more side walls surrounding the top portion and defining a cavity, each energy absorber having a closed end at the top portion and an open end opposite the closed end, each energy absorber configured to absorb energy and collapse when force is exerted by an object on the top portion, the object moving from the closed end toward the open end.
Vehicle interior component
A vehicle interior component, having rigidity for mitigating an impact from a side collision, includes a door panel, a door trim adapted to be attached to the door panel, and a box-shaped protector arranged between the door panel and the door trim and attached to one of the door panel and the door trim. An outer wall groove extending in a vehicle front to back direction is formed in an outer wall of the protector, which is opposite to the other of the door panel and the door trim. The outer wall is partitioned by the outer wall groove in an up to down direction into an upper opposite surface and a lower opposite surface, and one of the upper opposite surface and the lower opposite surface has an up-down length at a vehicle front side, which is larger than an up-down length at a vehicle rear side.
Energy Absorber for Vehicle Doors
A vehicle door is described, including: a bracket that is configured to support a window during opening and closing; a door locking mechanism that is positioned proximate (e.g., near or adjacent to) the bracket; and an absorption member that is configured and positioned to absorb energy from an impact with the vehicle door to thereby protect the door locking mechanism. The absorption member includes a body defining an internal channel that is configured to receive the bracket in an interference fit such that the absorption member is fixedly securable to the bracket.
Protection block for vehicle door lock
Disclosed herein is a door, lock and a protector block. The door includes an inner panel, a lock including a cable mounting plate and an inner surface, the inner surface faces the inner panel and connects to the inner panel such that an inner space is created between the cable mounting plate and the inner panel, and a protector block connected to the inner surface of the rear lock within the inner space present between the cable mounting plate and the inner panel.
VEHICLE ENERGY ABSORBING MEMBER
A vehicle door assembly includes an inner door panel, an outer door panel and an energy absorbing member. The outer door panel being configured such that at least a portion of an outer periphery thereof is fixed to an outer periphery of the inner door panel, the inner door panel and the outer door panel defining a hollow interior therebetween. The hollow interior has an upper end and a lower end. The energy absorbing member is installed within the hollow interior between the inner door panel and the outer door panel. The energy absorbing member has an outboard end surface with a first predetermined surface area and an inboard end surface having a second predetermined surface area greater than the first predetermined surface area. The energy absorbing member is spaced apart from the upper end of the hollow interior and being spaced apart from the lower end of the hollow interior.
DOOR SERVICE HOLE COVER
A door service hole cover includes a cover component that is configured to cover a service hole, and a shock absorption component that is integral to the cover component. The shock absorption component includes a cabin inner component, at least a portion of which projects from the cover component toward the inside of the cabin and which is hollow and open toward the outside of the cabin; and a fragile portion formed on a side surface of the cabin inner component and configured to allow the cabin inner component to crush and deform upon application of a force acting in the direction of projection of the cabin inner component. Upon application of a force acting in the direction of projection, the cabin inner component crushes inwardly and deforms while being twisted.
Interior trim mounting structure
A mounting structure of interior trim includes a handle-shaped grip arranged on the interior trim and a bracket connecting a vehicle body panel and the grip. The grip has a fixing base. The fixing base includes a base portion, a cylindrical boss portion, and an opening. The bracket includes a grip attachment part arranged on the fixing base, a pair of panel attachment portions arranged at both ends of the bracket, each of the panel attachment portions attached to the vehicle body panel, and a pair of connecting pieces straddling between the pair of the panel attachment portions with the grip attachment portion sandwiched in the center. One of the pair of connecting pieces has a fragile portion that becomes a deformation starting point of the bracket when a load is applied from the fixing base to the grip attachment portion.
UPPER REINFORCEMENT FOR A DOOR TRIM PANEL AND METHOD OF TUNING PERFORMANCE CHARACTERISTICS THEREOF
An upper reinforcement for a door trim panel includes a reinforcement channel, and a rib extending across the reinforcement channel. More particularly, the rib includes a first end section that engages a first wall of the channel, a second end section that engages a third wall of the channel and an intermediate section that extends across a window in the second wall of the channel.
Add-on part of a vehicle body
An add-on part (1) of a vehicle body, such as a door (1) or tailgate, has interconnected inner and outer parts (2, 4) and reinforced portions (5, 6) and a reinforcing device (7) connecting said reinforced portions (5, 6). The reinforcing device (7) has arms (8, 9, 18, 19), and, in the region of the ends of the arms (8, 9, 18, 19), the reinforcing device (7) is connected in a force-fitting and/or form-fitting manner to the reinforced portions (5, 6). Such an add-on part, while having a structurally simple design and relatively low weight, ensures particularly good stiffening properties.
