Crash structure for a motor vehicle

The disclosure relates to a crash structure for a motor vehicle, the crash structure being, in a starting state, at a minimum spacing of greater than zero from a door hinge of a vehicle door of the motor vehicle, and the crash structure being in contact with at least one contact region which is assigned to the door hinge in a crash state after a partial overlap crash by way of passing into an operative connection with a wheel of the motor vehicle, and forming a deflector surface for the deflection of the wheel.

VEHICLE BODY STRUCTURE

A door structure is moveable to and from of a closed orientation covering a door opening and an open orientation exposing the door opening of a vehicle. The door structure has an inner door panel with an interior latch handle attachment area and an attenuation slot adjacent to the interior latch handle attachment area. The attenuation slot is defined between a first slot edge and a second slot edge. The interior latch handle is installed to the interior latch handle attachment area. A portion of the interior latch handle is located adjacent to the first slot edge of the attenuation slot. In response to an impact event proximate a central area of the door structure, the door structure and the interior latch handle attachment area deform such that the first slot edge and the interior latch handle move relative to the second slot edge of the attenuation slot.

COMBINATION INTERIOR TRIM AND REINFORCEMENT FOR EXTERIOR RESIN PANE

Anchor brackets/tethers may be used to reinforce a vehicle's resin rear door without substantially increasing the mass of the resin rear door. Such anchor brackets hold an interior trim panel(s) in place, and keep the interior trim panel(s) connected to the door structure or portion(s) thereof. The interior trim panel(s) can act as a protective interior shield that eliminates any exposure of the interior cabin/passenger compartment from any outer (and/or interior) door panel cracks/gaps that may be created during an adverse event. Moreover, conventional interior trim panels may, during a collision, break apart, the broken pieces becoming potentially dangerous projectiles. By being attached to the door structure and/or door componentry, the chance that the interior trim panel (or portions thereof) becoming a projectile is negated or at least lessened.

A panel assembly for a vehicle made of different materials with different coefficients of thermal expansion according to various exemplary embodiments of the present invention includes: an external panel 10, an internal panel 20 having the circumference bonded to the circumference of the external panel 10, and made of a material having a coefficient of thermal expansion different from a coefficient of thermal expansion of the external panel 10, and at least one deformation absorption panel 30, 40 connected to at least one of the external panel 10 and the internal panel 20 on the circumferences of the external panel 10 and the internal panel 20, and for absorbing an amount of thermal deformation according to a change in temperatures of the external panel 10 and the internal panel 20 when the external panel 10 and the internal panel 20 are thermally deformed.

Vehicle-body structure of vehicle

There are provided a vehicle-body frame member forming an opening portion for entrance at a vehicle side part and a front side door provided so as to open and close the opening portion. The vehicle-body frame member comprises a side sill, the front side door comprises a door panel portion provided with an inner lower portion which overlaps with the side sill in a vehicle wide view and reinforcement portions provided at three side-portions of a peripheral part of the door panel portion which are continuous and include the inner lower portion such that the reinforcement portions overlap with the vehicle-body frame member in a vehicle side view.

DOOR ASSEMBLY FOR A MOTOR VEHICLE

A door assembly for a motor vehicle includes a door trim panel attached to a door body on the vehicle inside. The door trim panel includes a first impact region and a second impact region formed integrally therewith, wherein at each of the impact regions, an intermediate space is formed between the door trim panel and the door body. In order to allow an optimized protection of an occupant's pelvic region from injury by a vehicle door in a side impact, the door trim panel includes a channel portion, which is recessed back towards the door body, is formed between the impact regions and has two mutually opposite wall portions extending in the vehicle transverse direction, each of which is formed integrally with an impact region.

VEHICLE DOOR ASSEMBLY

A door has a latch mechanism, a reinforcement bracket and a jamming bracket within a cavity of the door. The latch mechanism retains the door in a closed orientation and in response to operation of the latch mechanism the door is released for movement to an open orientation. The reinforcement bracket is fixedly attached to structures of the vehicle door. The jamming bracket is fixed to the reinforcement bracket and has a locking portion that extends to an area adjacent to a release lever of the latch mechanism. With the door in a non-deformed state, the release lever is movable between a door opened orientation and a door closed orientation. In response to deformation of the door resulting from an exterior impact force, the locking portion of the jamming bracket moves toward the release lever preventing the release lever from moving to the door opened orientation.
