Apparatus and method of controlling door for vehicle
An apparatus can be used for controlling a door for a vehicle. A sensor unit is provided in the door and configured to sense an object adjacent to a region outside of the door. A controller configured to calculate a distance between the object and the door based on a signal received from the sensor unit, set a range by dividing and setting sensing ranges for each sensing distance of the sensor unit, and control the door to be opened while the distance to the object is gradually reduced in a state where the door is closed, such that the object is sensed within a predetermined range. The range is set by setting a maximum sensing distance in a state where the door is opened to be longer than in the state where the door is closed.
VEHICLE DOOR CONTROL SYSTEM
A vehicle door control system includes a door assembly, which includes a side door and a liftgate. The door assembly includes an actuation assembly that adjusts each of the side door and the liftgate between opened and closed positions. A sensor assembly defines a rear sensor field, a first side sensor field, and a second side sensor field. A controller determines whether a person in at least one of the rear sensor field, the first side sensor field, and the second side sensor field is a recognized passenger, determines a speed of the recognized passenger, determines whether the recognized passenger is carrying an object, and activates the actuation assembly to open at least one of the liftgate and the side door based on whether the recognized passenger is carrying an object, where timing of activation of the actuation assembly is based on the speed of the recognized passenger.

A rear door shelf assembly having a mounting base portion and a shelf rotatably connected to the mounting base portion for moving between an open position and a closed position. A spring-loaded prop rod is rotatably connected to the assembly. Storage features are connectable to the prop rod to provide multi-functionality of the assembly as a utility table and a storage unit. A one-touch latching mechanism holds the shelf in the closed position.

In a vehicle with a tailgate, a rear opening is formed in a rear surface of a vehicle body, a tailgate that is provided to open and close the rear opening, a sub-door opening that is formed in a portion of the tailgate in a width direction, and a sub-door that is provided to open and close the sub-door opening. The vehicle includes a tailgate latch device that locks the tailgate with the vehicle body, a sub-door latch device that locks the sub-door with the vehicle body, and a control unit that controls the tailgate latch device and the sub-door latch device. The control unit controls the sub-door latch device so as to prohibit the sub-door from being opened when determining that the tailgate is opened.

A rear structure for a vehicle body includes a hinge mechanism, a rear door and a wheel cover inner reinforcing plate at a rear floor. The hinge mechanism includes a hinge seat and a rotating arm. A motor vehicle has a tailgate arrangement consisting of a pivotable lower tailgate and a pivotable upper tailgate, the upper tailgate reaching partially over the lower tailgate in an overlapping region. A sensor system detects the respectively current position of both tailgates in the tailgate arrangement. The sensor system is connected to an electronic control unit for motorized actuation of both tailgates. The control unit has a functional module and in the process prevents a collision of the two tailgates in the overlapping region with consideration of their respectively current positions. The functional module is programmed such that, during closing of both tailgates starting from their respective start positions, their respective moving speed and/or their respective moving start are controlled in such a way that the upper tailgate passes a defined anti-collision position in the closing direction only when the lower tailgate is completely closed. The functional module may be programmed such that, during opening of both tailgates, the lower tailgate is not moved in the opening direction until the upper tailgate has passed the defined anti-collision position in the opening direction. The anti-collision position is a defined point, from which the possibility of geometric superimposition of the pivoting regions just cannot yet exist.
