Tree Felling Head Control System and Method
A tree felling head comprising a frame is coupled to a boom assembly of a harvester. A saw is coupled to the frame and is configured to cut a tree. A sensor that senses cutting of the tree by the saw and outputs a first signal when the tree is cut by the saw. A grapple arm is coupled to the frame. At least one grapple arm actuator is coupled between the frame and the grapple arm. The grapple arm actuator is configured to move the grapple arm between a closed position, a gliding position, and an open position. A control system is in communication with the grapple arm actuator and the sensor. The control system receives the first signal output by the sensor and outputs a second signal to cause the grapple arm actuator to move the grapple arm to the gliding position.

Disclosed is arrangement (100) for capturing image of a log; arrangement (100) comprising first housing structure (102) comprising at least two end walls (202), (204) and at least one side wall (206), wherein the at least one side wall (206) include at least one opening (210); second holding structure (104) arranged within first housing structure (102) wherein second holding structure (104) holds at least one imaging device (106) for capturing at least one image of planar surface (304) of log (302); first controlling unit (108) attached to first housing structure (102) and operatively coupled to second holding structure (104) for moving second holding structure (104) from first position to second position, wherein at second position at least one imaging device (106) is positioned axially on at least one opening (210); and second controlling unit (110) is operatively coupled to at least one imaging device (106) and is configured to instruct at least one imaging device (106) to capture after positioning axially at least one image of planar surface (304) of log (302).
Self-powered grappler assembly
A grappler assembly having an assembly framework and a grappler device that is supported by the assembly framework. The grappler device has at least one pair of grappler arms that engages with a desired section of a tree to be removed. The grappler assembly incorporating its own independent power module for supplying hydraulic power to the grappler device and controlling operation of the at least one pair of grappler arms, and the power module is mounted solely to the assembly framework.
Method and arrangement for assisting control of forest work machine
The invention relates to a method and forest work machine (1) making use of it, by means of which the control of the forest work machine is assisted. In the forest work machine, a light source (2) is adapted, which may be directed to one or more different parts of the surroundings around it, forming the working area of the forest work machine. This is adapted to produce at least one specifically defined specified-form light pattern (3) on said working area. With such a light pattern, visual information content may be produced on the working area to support an operator of the forest work machine in their work. As content of such information, it is possible to define control measures for the forest work machine, performed in any working area or their restrictions.
Method for assisting during execution of a sequence of cuttings in a tree, and system for assisting during execution of a sequence of cuttings in a tree
A system assists during execution of a sequence of cuttings in a tree, wherein, during a cutting sequence, a first cut in the tree is followed by a second cut in the tree At least a part of an ideal course of the second cut depends on at least a part of a course of the first cut. An identification device identifies at least the part of the course of the first cut in the tree. A precalculation device precalculates at least the part of the ideal course of the second cut in the tree based on the identified part of the course of the first cut. An output device outputs cutting information for executing the second cut based on the precalculated part of the ideal course of the second cut.

Method for assisting during felling of a tree, and system for assisting during felling of a tree
A system assists during felling of a tree. A provision device provides a property of the tree and/or a property of an environment of the tree, identifies at least part of a course of a cut in the tree for felling the tree and/or identifies a position and/or an orientation of a cutting apparatus executing the cut. A determination device obtains felling information related to an ideal felling direction of the tree, compares the identified part of the course to an obtained part of an ideal course of a cut to be executed in the tree for felling the tree in the ideal felling direction, compares the identified position and/or the identified orientation of the cutting apparatus to an obtained ideal position and/or an obtained ideal orientation of the cutting apparatus, and obtains cutting information based on the comparison. An output device outputs the obtained felling information and cutting information.
