Self-Propelled Tree Trimmer
A device for selectively trimming a tree, the device configured to aerially travel to tree limbs or tree trunks destined for trimming, the device comprising: a transporting assembly configured to aerially transport the device; a tree interface assembly on which is operatively coupled pair(s) of opposing gripping arms disposed to grip the tree therebetween, the tree interface assembly being operatively coupled to the transporting assembly; a transverse rotator comprising a rotational driver configured to rotate the device circumferentially about a tree limb or tree trunk, the transverse rotator being operatively coupled to the tree interface assembly; a cutting assembly comprising at least one cutting mechanism configured to selectively cut a tree limb or tree trunk in multiple planes; wherein the device, once secured to the tree may travel longitudinally along a tree limb or tree trunk to the desired location for trimming.
System, device, and method for processing a length of material
A system, device, and method for processing a length of material are provided. A material-working device has first and second cutting devices, each having different cutting capacities. Data relating to the length and diameter at a plurality of points of the material is received, and used to determine at least one cutting position along its length. The diameter of the length of material at the cutting position is determined, and used to select either the first cutting device or second cutting device for use in performing a cut at the cutting position based on the cutting capacity of each cutting device.

Airborne vegetation cutting assembly
An airborne vegetation cutting assembly aerially suspended by an aircraft to simultaneously grapple and trim vegetation across a cutting plane that can be rotated and pivoted at multiple cutting angles. The assembly comprises a housing that contains the hydraulic mechanism and a power portion for operating the components. A tube extends from the aircraft to the housing. A knuckle detachably attaches the housing to the tube. Upper and lower grappling devices extend from the housing in a coplanar, spaced-apart relationship. The grappling devices grapple and release the vegetation independently of each other. A blade is coplanar with the grappling devices. The blade cuts a cross section of the vegetation along a cutting plane after the grappling devices grapple the vegetation. A connective knuckle rotates and pivots to enable rotational and pivotal control of the grappling devices and the blade, so as to change the orientation of the cutting plane.

Apparatus for tree trimming and tree maintenance
Disclosed herein is an apparatus preferably coupled to a boom on a truck, the apparatus capable of a plurality of configurations for a variety of applications. In one configuration, the apparatus can perform rapid semi-precise cutting of vegetation. In another configuration, the apparatus can perform more precise trimming of one or more areas (e.g., limbs) and optionally use a limb clamp to prevent cut limbs/vegetation from arbitrarily falling on objects below the cutting area. In yet another configuration, the apparatus can have a grapple or similar device attached to the end of the boom for use in relocating debris or for loading debris into a removal facility such as dump or garbage truck. In each configuration, the apparatus comprises one or more rotatable or pivoting couplings to allow for rotation about one or more axis and therefore allow precise manipulation from an operator in the vehicle or on the ground.
