Glare and occluded view compensation for automotive and other applications
Often when there is a glare on a display screen the user may be able to mitigate the glare by tilting or otherwise moving the screen or changing their viewing position. However, when driving a car there are limited options for overcoming glares on the dashboard, especially when you are driving for a long distance in the same direction. Embodiments are directed to eliminating such glare. Other embodiments are related to mixed reality (MR) and filling in occluded areas.
Input device
An input device is provided which includes: a first light source which emits light to cause a first design to be displayed on a display region: a second light source which emits light to cause a second design different from the first design to be displayed on the display region; a switch which receives an input from a user; and a control circuit which, according to the input received by the switch, (i) controls displaying of a design on the display region, by controlling a lighting state of the first light source and a lighting state of the second light source, and (ii) outputs a control signal corresponding to the input received by the switch, to an external device.
Display device
An attenuation portion is to illuminate first and second display objects while attenuating light. A display element causes light to enter the attenuation portion to illuminate the first display object in a display region. A light source irradiates light to illuminate the second display object in the display region. A display forming member has a light-blocking layer and an attenuation layer. The light-blocking layer has a light-transmitting portion defining a shape of the second display object. The attenuation layer covers the light-blocking layer from a display region side to attenuate light, which is from the light source and passes through the light-transmitting portion. The display forming member indicates the second display object in the display region with emission of light which is attenuated through the attenuation layer and enters the attenuation portion.
Dial plate and automotive meter
A dial plate is provided with a mark layer having translucency, the mark layer including numbers of linear grooves formed on a surface of the mark layer, and a reflective layer that is arranged on a back face side of the mark layer, and reflects light incident from the mark layer side. The reflective layer includes a light transmission area that allows the light emitted from a light source arranged on the back face side to transmit therethrough to a front face side, and displays a display design by the light transmitting through the light transmission area when the light source is turned on. In the reflective layer, at least the light transmission area is composed of pearl ink.
Illumination device
An illumination device includes: a light source; and a laminate that displays a predetermined design on a front surface by transmitting light emitted by the light source forward in a shape of the predetermined design. The laminate includes: a display layer that includes the front surface and is light transmissive; a reflective layer that includes a first opening having the shape of the predetermined design, is disposed between the display layer and the light source, and reflects external light transmitted from the front surface of the display layer rearward; a light blocking layer that includes a second opening having the shape of the predetermined design and overlapping the first opening, is disposed between the reflective layer and the light source, and blocks light; and a light diffusion layer that diffuses light and is disposed between the reflective layer and the light source to overlap the second opening.
Operating knob extending from the surface of a pixel-based screen
An operating knob for an operating apparatus extends away from a reference plane that delimits the operating knob on a rear side. The operating knob is in the form of a three-dimensionally protruding body in relation to the reference plane up to a knob height. The operating knob has at least one side wall extending between the reference plane and the knob height at an angle greater than 20 with respect to the reference plane as a placement surface for at least one finger operating the operating knob. Luminous outputs of at least one luminous segment or a pixel matrix are provided on the side wall.
ILLUMINATION DEVICE
An illumination device includes; a light source; and a laminate that displays a predetermined design on a front surface by transmitting light emitted by the light source forward in a shape of the predetermined design. The laminate includes: a display layer that includes the front surface and is light transmissive; a reflective layer that includes a first opening having the shape of the predetermined design, is disposed between the display layer and the light source, and reflects external light transmitted from the front surface of the display layer rearward; a light blocking layer that includes a second opening having the shape of the predetermined design and overlapping the first opening, is disposed between the reflective layer and the light source, and blocks light; and a light diffusion layer that diffuses light and is disposed between the reflective layer and the light source to overlap the second opening.

Interior Assembly for a Motor Vehicle and Method for Producing an Interior Assembly
An interior assembly for a motor vehicle includes a decorative layer and a lighting unit. The decorative layer has a plurality of cutouts which are arranged with respect to one another in such a way that they represent at least one symbol. The lighting unit is assigned to the cutouts in such a way that the light which is emitted by the lighting unit in the switched on state of the lighting unit is directed through at least some of the cutouts to a surface of the decorative layer.
VEHICLE INTERIOR COMPONENT
A vehicle interior component is disclosed. The component may comprise a composite structure comprising a substrate and light guide and surface/cover with holes/pattern of apertures configured for illumination (by a light source/module) to provide an interface/display (with decorative and/or instrumentation region). The light guide may comprise a resin material formed as the set of projections in the pattern of apertures. The cover may comprise a decorative layer with backing configured to provide a visual/surface effect (e.g. natural material, wood veneer, etc.); the display may present a visual/decorative effect when illuminated at the pattern of apertures/light guide. The interface/display at the surface (by illuminated light guide/pattern of holes) may present indicia for a vehicle system and/or decorative effect. The component may comprise a trim/trim panel, instrument panel/dashboard, door panel/armrest, console, overhead trim/headliner, pillar/structure, seat, etc.
