The display panel is configured to output a second light having the image. The sensor electrically connects to the processor, and detects an intensity of ambient light. The processor is configured to modulate the display device to adjust the second light based on the intensity of the ambient light.

Accordingly, the appearance of the display performed by the vehicular display device is improved.

The display panel is configured to change illumination light from the light source apparatus into display light on a display surface. The display surface includes a first luminance area displayable at a first luminance, and a second luminance area displayable at a second luminance which is lower in luminance than the first luminance. The controller is configured to selectively display information in the first luminance area and the second luminance.

A second polarization axis of a second polarization component which passed through the first viewing angle control panel is different from a first polarization axis of the first polarization component. The polarization axis rotation element is configured to rotate the second polarization axis.

A light source unit used for a vehicular head-up display includes a prism-shaped multi-reflection member and a substrate. The multi-reflection member has: an entrance surface; an emission surface; and a reflective surface connecting the entrance surface and the emission surface. The substrate faces the entrance surface and is provided with a plurality of light sources mounted in a matrix. A ratio Ra=A/B or a ratio Rc=a/b is larger than a ratio Rb=C/D, where A and B is the number of the light sources provided in a longer and shorter direction of the entrance surface, respectively, C and D is a longer and shorter dimension of the emission surface, respectively, and a and b is the sum of lengths of light-emitting surfaces of the plurality of light sources in the longer and shorter direction of the entrance surface, respectively.

A vehicle display assembly may comprise a transparent element defining a viewing surface, a display element disposed behind the transparent element, and a printed circuit board in electrical communication with the display element. The display element is configured to generate an image visible through the transparent element. The vehicle display assembly may be in communication with at least one of a vehicle sensor and a vehicle computer. The images appearing in the display element may change orientation based on the presence or absence of a vehicle occupant.
