NOVEL GENETIC LOCI ASSOCIATED WITH DISEASE RESISTANCE IN SOYBEANS

The present invention relates to methods and compositions for identifying, selecting and/or producing a Disease resistant soybean plant or germplasm using markers, genes and chromosomal intervals derived from Glycine tomentella PI441001, PI441008, PI446958, PI509501, PI583970, PI499939 or PI483224. A soybean plant or germplasm that has been identified, selected and/or produced by any of the methods of the present invention is also provided. Disease resistant soybean seeds, plants and germplasms are also provided.

SORGHUM DOUBLED HAPLOID PRODUCTION SYSTEM

Methods and compositions useful in sorghum breeding are provided. Methods of producing haploid sorghum embryos, plants, seeds, and plant parts are provided. The sorghum haploid embryos produced may be doubled to produce doubled haploid embryos, plants, seeds, and plant parts as part of a sorghum breeding program.

METHODS FOR PLANT SEED PRODUCTION

The invention provides methods for producing seeds in watermelon. In one embodiment methods are provided comprising grafting of a seed parent onto a stress tolerant rootstock, pollinating the seed parent with pollen from a pollen donor, and cultivating the seed parent until seed is formed. In specific embodiments, triploid seeds produced by a method of the invention are rendered conspicuously distinguishable from tetraploid seeds, and thus readily selected manually or by an automated machine. Methods for increasing seed yield and/or quality are also provided.

HYBRID PLANT PRODUCTS FROM THEOBROMA SPECIES AND METHODS OF MAKING THE SAME

Methods for hybridizing members of the Theobroma genus, and particularly to methods for hybridizing Theobroma cacao and Theobroma grandiflorum are provided. Hybrid seeds, plants and plant parts thereof, obtained from these methods are also provided. Methods for confirming that the resulting progeny are hybrids are described. Theobroma hybrid plant products, such as seeds obtained by crossing Theobroma cacao and Theobroma grandiflorum, having modified chemical compositions, such as modified fatty acid content, and/or modified alkaloid content, are provided. Products obtainable from the hybrid plants and seeds, particularly foodstuffs such as cocoa products, are also provided.

In vitro rescue method for immature embryo of avocado

An in vitro rescue method for immature embryo of avocado includes: collecting immature avocado hybrid fruits, stripping immature zygotic embryos from the sterilized fruits; inducing maturation of zygotic embryos in different media selected according to the maturities of zygotic embryos; and avocado seed embryos growing to normal plants under light conditions after germination. Provided is a technology for the in vitro culture rescue of immature embryo of avocado, wherein the zygotic embryos at different developmental stages are induced to maturation under in vitro conditions, and after maturation, the seed embryos are induced to germinate and form healthy plants. The present invention can effectively improve the survival rate of hybrid avocado zygotic embryo, increase the success rate of hybrid avocado, rescue the hybrid offspring, reduce the loss of hybrid offspring, ensure the genetic integrity of hybrid group, and provide the key technology for hybrid breeding and genetic research of avocado.

YIELD QTLS IN CUCUMBER PLANTS

The present invention relates to cultivated cucumber plants comprising a yield QTL on chromosome 2 and/or chromosome 6 of their genome.

YIELD QTLS IN CUCUMBER PLANTS

The present invention relates to cultivated cucumber plants comprising a yield QTL on chromosome 2 of their genome.

INTERSPECIFIC DIANTHUS PLANTS AND METHODS OF PRODUCING SAME

An interspecific Dianthus plant is provided. The interspecific plant comprises a genomic sequence distinctive of D. japonicus and a genomic sequence distinctive of Dianthus species not being D. japonicus, the plant exhibiting resistance to Fusarium oxysporum f.sp. dianthi, race 2 which is higher than that of the Dianthus species.
