A system is described herein. The system includes at least a computing device and an occupation device. The computing device includes an engine and a graphical user interface (GUI). The occupation deice is affixed to a car seat in a vehicle. The occupation device is configured to determine a presence or an absence of a child in the car seat. Specifically, the occupation device includes electrical components and a laser component comprising at least a laser beam that exits a body component of the occupation device at a location. When the laser beam is uninterrupted, the electrical components are configured to transmit a first alert to the engine of the computing device for display to a user via the GUI. When the laser beam is interrupted, the electrical components are configured to transmit a second alert to the engine of the computing device for display to the user via the GUI.

CONTROL OF A CONFIGURABLE BUCKLE APPARATUS OF AN OCCUPANT RESTRAINT SYSTEM

A system for operating a configurable buckle apparatus and associated method. The system includes an occupant type identification module configured to determine, based on data indicative of one or more occupant qualities of an occupant seated within a seat of a vehicle, the occupant's status as an assisted occupant or an unassisted occupant. The system further includes a locking mechanism control module configured to communicate a signal to a locking mechanism of the configurable buckle apparatus to cause the locking mechanism to transition from a locked mode to an unlocked mode in response to the determination of an assisted occupant. In the locked mode, the locking mechanism is secured to a latch coupled to a seat belt webbing associated with the seat, and, in the unlocked mode of the locking mechanism, the latch is removable from the locking mechanism.

Car seat abandonment prevention system

A car seat abandonment prevention system for alarming a driver of the presence of a child within a vehicle by sending a signal to a mobile device includes a vehicle having a driver seat and a back seat. A car seat is removably attached to a base to define a safety seat. A door position sensor is mounted to the vehicle and is activated when a driver positions a driver door of the vehicle in a closed position or in an open position. A seat position sensor is mounted to the safety seat and is activated when the driver attaches the car seat to the base of the safety seat or removes the car seat from the base of the safety seat.

System and method of controlling a child seat latching assembly for a vehicle

Method of controlling and smart indication of a child seat latch assembly for a vehicle is provided. The method comprises identifying a vehicle seat in the vehicle when a request for child seat latch assembly activation is received. The vehicle seat is arranged to receive a child seat for securement in the vehicle. The method comprises automatic or manual activating the child seat latch assembly and aligning the child seat with the vehicle seat. The method comprises sensing the base bar relative to the base connector and sensing the back bar relative to the back connector. The method comprises locking the base bar in the base connector and locking the back bar in the back connector. The method further comprises monitoring the portable child seat relative to the stationary vehicle seat to maintain an aligned position, a locked base position, communication of the secureness status and a locked back position.

Battery enhancing vehicle internal temperature monitoring device
12387589 · 2025-08-12 ·

A system for monitoring ambient temperatures surrounding a child's car seat and alerting a user of unsafe highs or lows includes a battery and a microcontroller mounted within a housing. The microcontroller includes a transmitter that communicates with a temperature sensor and an external server. The transmitter and the temperature sensor each have an active state and a resting state. In the resting state, the components draw little to no power from the battery. The temperature sensor periodically enters the active state to take ambient temperature readings. When those ambient temperature readings fall outside of the predetermined ranges for child safety, the transmitter enters the active state and sends an alert to the server, which relays the alert to the user. The transmitter can also send the alert to an emergency communications line or emit an audible alarm to alert nearby people of the unsafe conditions.
