SEAT CUSHION WITH STIFFENER STRANDS
20250196738 · 2025-06-19 ·

A vehicle seat cushion is formed by depositing filaments of a thermoplastic to form a mesh member while embedding straight strands of thermoplastic into the mesh member. The straight strands modify a property of the mesh member, such as crush resistance. The strands may have barbs to improve mechanical bonding. The filaments may be deposited directly onto a conveyor or, alternatively, may be deposited into molds which travel along the conveyor.

MODULE SUPPORT ARRANGEMENT

A module support arrangement for attachment to the seat structure of a motor vehicle seat and for fixing pneumatic components or non-pneumatic components has a module support with a front side and a rear side opposite the front side. Optionally, the module support arrangement has at least one further component, wherein air ducts and/or air duct sections are integrated in the module support and/or in the at least one further component. At least one pressure accumulator that is in fluidic communication with at least one of the air ducts or air duct sections is integrated on or in the module support and/or on or in the further component.

SEAT COVER FASTENING

A molded seat cushion is adapted for receiving a seat cover by providing an adhesive on either or both of a flexible fastener sheet and a selected area of a molded foam cushion surface, positioning the flexible fastener sheet to cover the selected area, and allowing the adhesive to set to permanently bond the flexible fastener sheet over the selected area of the molded foam cushion surface. The selected area features a three-dimensional contour that the flexible fastener sheet follows as bonded. A related flexible fastener product has a non-woven textile sheet and a resin layer secured to the textile sheet and carrying an array of discrete male touch fastener elements. The resin layer includes multiple parallel strips of resin, each resin strip carrying respective touch fastener elements, with each pair of adjacent strips separated by an exposed lane of the non-woven textile sheet

Process for molding cover materials for seating applications

A seat trim cover for an automotive seat is formed into a 3-dimensional shape by compression molding a laminated moldable foam in a 3-dimensional. The laminated moldable foam comprises at least a layer of cellular polyurethane foam compression moldable in a temperature range of about 220 F. to about 260 F. The 3-dimensional mold is heated to a temperature range of about 150 F. to about 320 F. The layer of cellular foam is adhered to a cover material layer and precut into a pre-laminated blank prior to molding into the 3-dimensional shape. Optionally, seat heaters or other components can be integrated with the laminated foam prior to compression molding the seat trim cover.
