SEATBACK SUPPORT STRUCTURES WITH VARIABLE AND ADJUSTABLE STIFFNESS
20200108755 · 2020-04-09 ·

Seatback support structures may allow a user to selectively adjust the effective stiffness of a seat, between a plurality of settings, to increase individualized comfort for the user. A plurality of stabilizing members may be cantilevered with respect to a base member, with the amount of deflection of the stabilizing members in response to a given load being variable via a stiffness adjustment mechanism of the seatback support structure. Said stiffness adjustment mechanism may include a linkage that is mechanically moved with respect to the stabilizing members to adjust the weight distribution amongst the stabilizing members, thereby adjusting the effective stiffness of the seatback support structure. Such seatback support structures may be configured to operate substantially irrespective to changes in air pressure, and may be incorporated into any number of passenger seats, such as on aircraft, trains, and other vehicles. Methods of forming such seatback support structures are also disclosed.

Occupant support system

A vehicle seat includes a seat bottom and a seat back. The seat back is coupled to the seat bottom to move relative to the vehicle seat. The vehicle further includes a support mechanism coupled to the vehicle and configured to vary support provided to an occupant sitting on the vehicle seat.

VEHICLE SEAT

A vehicle seat includes a seat back frame with an upper subframe pivot. A seat back subframe is pivotably connected to the seat back frame at the upper subframe pivot. An actuation assembly pivotably moves the seat back subframe relative to the seat back frame about the upper subframe pivot, between a seat back subframe design position and a subframe recline position. In the recline position a lower edge of the seat back subframe is positioned outwardly relative to the seat back frame with the seat back subframe pivoted to an angle relative to the seat back frame.

A seat structure, particularly for a vehicle, that includes a seatback structure and a seat frame. The seatback structure includes a seatback frame and a plurality of seatback support members. The seatback support members are connected to the seatback frame. The seatback structure is connected to the seat frame.

Vehicle seat

A vehicle seat provided with a seat cushion and a seat back, wherein the seat back is provided with: a urethane pad in which the surface is covered by a trim cover; and a pressure means in which a laterally extending shaft and a pair of pressing parts in the vertical direction relative to the shaft are formed on the reverse side of the urethane pad toward the side covered by the trim cover, and a configuration is adopted such that the shaft extending in the lateral direction of the pressure means rotates or swings, thereby causing the upper-side pressing part among the upper and lower pair of pressing parts to press the upper side of the urethane pad forward and the lower-side pressing part to press the lower side of the urethane pad forward.

BACK SUPPORT DEVICE AND VEHICLE SEAT

A back support device, comprising: a frame portion provided at a seat on which a seated person is seated, the frame portion including a locked portion at an upper portion of the frame portion; an upper frame portion fixed to the upper portion of the frame portion and extending in a seat width direction below the locked portion; a lumbar support portion engaged with a lower portion of the frame portion and configured to support a waist of the seated person from a seat rear side; and a pressure receiving portion including, at an upper end portion thereof, a locking portion locked to the locked portion, the pressure receiving portion being supported by the upper frame portion and the lumbar support portion from the seat rear side, and being configured to be deformable by receiving a load from a back of the seated person.

Seat with shape memory material member actuation

A vehicle seat can be configured to provide support to a vehicle occupant in conditions when lateral acceleration is experienced. Shape memory material members can be operatively positioned with respect to a seat portion of the vehicle seat. The shape memory material members can be selectively activated by an activation input. When activated, the shape memory material members can engage a seat pan so as to cause the seat pan to tilt in a respective lateral direction. As a result, a seat cushion supported by the seat pan can also tilt in the respective lateral direction. The seat cushion can be tilted in a lateral direction that is opposite to the direction of the lateral acceleration. Thus, the effects of lateral acceleration felt by a seat occupant can be reduced. The shape memory material members can be selectively activated based on vehicle speed, steering angle, and/or lateral acceleration.

VEHICLE INTERIOR EQUIPMENT

A vehicle interior equipment including: a contact portion contactable with a human body; and an outer shape member including: receiving portions; a hinge portion connecting adjacent receiving portions; and an outer or inner side deformable portion, in which a shape of the contact portion is changed to the following (a) or (b) by contraction or extension of the outer or inner side deformable portion: (a) the outer shape of the contact portion being made concave by bending the hinge portion so that the adjacent receiving portions are close to each other on the outer side; and (b) the outer shape of the contact portion being made convex by bending the hinge portion so that the adjacent receiving portions are close to each other on the inner side, and in which the inner or outer side deformable portion maintains the changed outer shape even without contacting with human body.

CONVEYANCE SEAT

To secure both flexibility and rigidity of a pressure-receiving member, a pressure-receiving member capable of moving rearward in a state of receiving a load from a back of an occupant is included in a seat back of a conveyance seat for supporting the back of the occupant. The pressure-receiving member has a load-receiving portion which receives the load from the back of the occupant at a front face, and the load-receiving portion includes a load-receiving portion piece formed so that a length in a vertical direction of the seat back is shorter than a length in a seat width direction, and a rear reinforcement rib protruding along a thickness direction of the load-receiving portion from the load-receiving portion piece and extending along the seat width direction.

Lumbar spacer

A spacer (40) comprising a generally planar body portion (44) and one or more channels (42) defined by one or more unitary channel walls (48), channel wall segments (52), or both extending from the generally planar body portion (44); and one or more flexing regions (74) defined by two or more juxtaposed channel wall segments (52) separated by a gap (54) for providing flexibility to the spacer (40).
