Monocoque and semi-monocoque passenger seats with ergonomic design

Described are ergonomic passenger seats that may include monocoque or semi-monocoque seat backs, cellular suspension cushions, and tray tables with support arms that may be located within the interior volume of the monocoque or semi-monocoque seat backs when in their stowed positions. The passenger seats offer enhanced passenger comfort and space while providing a lightweight, simple to manufacture design. Monocoque and semi-monocoque seat backs may form integral parts of passenger seats to support additional loads without need for heavy, complex structures. The space within the monocoque or semi-monocoque seat back may then be used for storage or suspension cushions that offer improved comfort with a lighter seat frame. Monocoque and semi-monocoque seat backs may also facilitate the adoption of several other seating mechanisms, such as new seat mounts that allow for improved seat motion that allows for passenger recline with reduced impingement on other passengers' space.

ATTACHMENT SYSTEM FOR A SEAT COVERING
20230061078 · 2023-03-02 ·

An attachment system for a vehicular seat covering, the attachment system having an engagement portion and an extension portion. The engagement portion removably engages an upper portion of the vehicular seat and the extension portion interconnects the engagement portion and the seat covering extending from a proximal end of the extension portion. Opposite the seat covering, the extension portion provides a plurality of attachment points to which the engagement portion can selectively attach. Thereby, the elevation of the dependent seat covering is selectively adjustable through selecting one of the plurality of attachment points from which to hang the extension portion from the engagement portion.

HEADREST FOR A VEHICLE SEAT
20230142193 · 2023-05-11 ·

The invention relates to a headrest for a vehicle seat, comprising a first part; a second part that is able to rotate with respect to the first part; and a control rod for the relative movement between the first part and the second part; wherein the second part comprises an arcuate opening for receiving the rod, the opening comprising cavities; and wherein the rod is movable between an adjustment position in which the rod does not prevent the relative rotational movement between the first part and the second part; and a locked position in which the rod is trapped inside one of the cavities of the opening, thus preventing relative rotational movement between the first part and the second part.

Additively manufactured trim article

A headrest assembly includes a lattice matrix having a plurality of three-dimensional (3D) cells. Each 3D cell of includes a node and a plurality of links outwardly extending from the node. The lattice matrix includes a plurality of sections including a first section having a first overall elastic modulus, a second section positioned adjacent to the first section and having a second overall elastic modulus that is higher than the first overall elastic modulus of the first section, and a third section positioned adjacent to the second section and having a third overall elastic modulus that is higher than the second overall elastic modulus of the second section. The lattice matrix is integrally constructed using an additive manufacturing technique, wherein the 3D cells of each section are provided in various patterns and cured to varying degrees to provide the varying overall elastic moduli of each section of the lattice matrix.

Headrest for vehicle with improved collision performance

A headrest for a vehicle with improved collision performance includes: a headrest stay provided integrally with a seat back and exposed at an upper end of the seat back; a blower connected to the headrest stay; and a rotation direction change member installed between the headrest stay and the blower, connecting the headrest stay and the blower, and configured to allow a rotation direction of the headrest stay and a rotation direction of the blower to be opposite to each other in an event of a rear collision.

QUICKLY INSTALLED HEADREST ADJUSTMENT DEVICE
20230137499 · 2023-05-04 ·

A quickly installed headrest adjustment device includes a mount case connected to the chair back and includes a recessed area, an engaging hole, a latch and a first contact face on the rear side of the chair back. The engaging hole is located between the two side slots and defined through the inner bottom of the recessed area. The latch is connected to the inner top side of the engaging hole and includes a bottom face which protrudes beyond the engaging hole and faces the inner side of the recessed area. An adjustment device is mounted to the rail and includes a second contact face facing the first contact face, two ridges, and a block. The block is located between the two ridges. The users can connect the adjustment device to the mount case of the chair back to quickly install the headrest unit to the chair back.

Foaming die device adapted to effect foaming in trim cover assembly integrally to form headrest, and foaming process for forming headrest by effecting foaming in trim cover assembly integrally, using the foaming die device

A foaming die device for forming a headrest is provided, which comprises a lower die having a first protrusion and an upper die having a second protrusion. The lower and upper dies are used for accommodating a trim cover assembly with a headrest stay portion extending outwardly through a stay passage hole formed in the trim cover assembly. The first and second protrusions are adapted to press and turn over a projected area created about the stay hole into the inside of that trim cover assembly. Also, a foaming process for forming the headrest, using this foaming die device, is provided, in which the projected area is turned over by the first and second protrusions into the trim cover assembly when placing the trim cover assembly in the dies. Hence, conventional preliminary steps using cylindrical stick to turn over the projected area into the trim cover assembly are eliminated.
