The embodiments described and claimed herein are improved vehicle access systems. In particular, one embodiment includes three compact, motorized mechanisms for pivoting a passenger seat toward a door opening, extending the passenger seat outside the door opening, lowering the passenger seat, and tilting the passenger seat to help the passenger stand. The first mechanism concurrently pivots the passenger seat and moves it sideways during the pivoting operation so that it is aligned with the door opening. The second mechanism extends the passenger seat outside the door opening. The third mechanism lowers the seat.

A seat assembly for use in an automotive vehicle comprises a seat cushion adapted to be coupled to a floor of the vehicle, a seat back pivotably coupled to the seat cushion, a striker adapted to be fixedly secured to a support wall in the vehicle, a recliner bracket pivotally coupled to the seat back, and a latch assembly pivotally coupled to the recliner bracket and pivotally coupled to the striker. Pivotal movement of the recliner bracket relative to the seat back causes the latch assembly to pivot around the striker and the seat back to pivot relative to the seat cushion between a design position and a full recline position.

The present inventive concept relates to a child safety assembly. The child safety assembly comprises: a base portion, to be placed on a vehicle seat and for holding a child safety seat and a brace, to be pressed against a backrest of the vehicle seat. The brace being connected to the base portion, for preventing the base portion from tilting from the vehicle seat. The child safety assembly further comprises tensioning means, extending from the brace and secured to the base portion, and a biasing mechanism, coupled to the tensioning means. The biasing mechanism provides, to the tensioning means, a tension which draws the brace in a direction downwards to the base portion for providing a pressure of the brace against the backrest of the vehicle seat.

A vehicle seat adjustment mechanism may include a gearbox, a first gear, a second gear, and a spindle screw. The first gear is received in the gearbox and is rotatable relative to the gearbox about a first axis. The second gear is received in the gearbox and is rotatable relative to the gearbox about a second axis that is perpendicular to the first axis. The first and second gears are meshingly engaged with each other. The spindle screw is meshingly engaged with the second gear and extends through the second gear along the second axis. The spindle screw may have trapezoidal threads.

The cushion lock apparatus includes a lock member attached to a seat cushion side, a lock target member attached to a seat back side and engaging with the lock member to lock turning motion of the seat cushion, and a position holding member holding at least one of the positions of the lock member and the lock target member to hold a state in which a clearance is, in the seatable state, formed between an engagement portion provided at the lock member and an engagement target portion provided at the lock target member.

A self-leveling armrest assembly for a vehicle is provided. The self-leveling armrest assembly includes a back portion of a vehicle seat having a first bracket and a second bracket. The second bracket is rotatably connected to at least one floor bracket. An armrest assembly is rotatably connected to the first bracket of the back portion. At least one motion link is rotatably connected to the second bracket of the back portion. The at least one motion link is configured to receive a portion of the armrest assembly as the armrest assembly rotates. The motion link is configured to maintain the armrest assembly in a substantially horizontal orientation.

Vehicle seating assembly having a lower leg support

A vehicle seating assembly includes a seat, a seatback, and a lower leg support. The seat includes a forward end and a rearward end. The seatback is pivotably coupled to the seat. The lower leg support includes an interior surface and an exterior surface. The lower leg support is rotatably coupled to the forward end of the seat and is movable between a stowed position and a deployed position. The stowed position of the lower leg support places the lower leg support in an area below the seat. The stowed position of the lower leg support forms an acute angle with the seat. A linkage assembly is coupled to an underside of the seat and the interior of the lower leg support. The linkage assembly is responsible for transitioning the lower leg support between the stowed position and the deployed position.

Vehicle seat hinge assembly

A vehicle seat hinge assembly including a base plate, a seat support assembly, and an off-center hinge. The base plate is configured to mount to a vehicle and the seat support assembly is configured to mount to the seat. The off-center hinge of the vehicle seat hinge assembly is positioned at one corner of the base plate and pivotally couples at least part of the seat support assembly to the base plate. The base plate has a base plate centerline and the off-center hinge has a hinge axis that is arranged at an oblique angle relative to the base plate centerline.
