Side-loading liftgate having integrated stabilizer leg
A sideloader liftgate system automatically extends a stabilizer leg when a liftgate is deployed, and automatically retracts the stabilizer leg when the liftgate is stored. Adjustment of the liftgate and stabilizer leg is carried out in response to a single user command. The invention prevents a user from forgetting to extend the stabilizer leg for safely using the liftgate, and also prevents a user from forgetting to retract the stabilizer leg before towing the trailer.

The present invention provides a lift gate system. In one embodiment, the lift gate system comprises a lift platform, a lifting mechanism, and at least one stop member. The lifting mechanism moves the lift platform between a raised position and a lowered position. The lift platform is substantially aligned with an extension plate when the lift platform is in the raised position. The stop members are positioned relative to the lift platform to provide a gap between the extension plate and the lift platform when the lift platform is in the raised position.

The present invention provides a lift gate system. In one embodiment, the lift gate system comprises a lift platform, a lifting mechanism, and at least one stop member. The movable connection assembly (110) comprises at least two pairs of hydraulically driven lifting arms (145, 146) on either side of the lifting platform (115) and pivotally connected at a first end to a base (140) and at a second end to the lifting platform (115), at least two hydraulic actuators being disposed in connection with each pair of arms (145, 146) acting in substantially the same direction as each other. The hydraulic actuators are powered by a common source. The lift can be used to allow wheelchair bound passengers to board the vehicle or for lifting heavy articles onto the vehicle.
