Structured covers including an expanse, a structure member, and a hook. The hook is coupled to a first end of the structure member, The hook is configured to selectively couple to a coupling member to bound the expanse in a defined configuration defined at least in part by the structure member. In some examples, the structured cover includes a plurality of structure members, a plurality of mounting points, a channel layer, a crimp, and/or a reinforcing layer.

A cargo retainer for use with a vehicle includes a mat having a top side, a bottom side, a leading portion, a trailing portion, and an aperture for securing the trailing portion to the vehicle via a fastener. The cargo retainer includes a retention anchor configured to attach to the vehicle. The retention anchor has a top portion and a cleat portion such that the top portion is coupled with the leading portion of the mat. The cleat portion of the retention anchor extends away from the bottom side of the mat and is adapted to be inserted into and retained by a gap formed between a cargo area of the vehicle and either a tailgate of the vehicle or a bumper of the vehicle.

A corner bracket for a tarp system for a vehicle includes a pair of arcuate main body portions with each of the main body portions including a central aperture formed therein and a sleeve disposed on each of the pair of main body portions with each of the sleeves having a central aperture aligned with the central aperture of the corresponding main body portion. Each of the sleeves includes a tarp retention channel configured to receive a portion of a tarp and a support pole therein. A fastener is configured to be received in the central aperture of each of the main body portions and the aperture of the sleeve of each of the main body portions to couple the main body portions to each other.

A cargo cover and strap system is provided that uses one tarp with two layers or two separate tarps, where one tarp is made of solid polyethylene waterproof material and the mesh net tarp is made of a woven fabric or woven polyethylene layer. The polyethylene tarp fits around cargo being transported in the bed of pickup truck. The mesh net is layered on top or joined together with the polyethylene tarp. Stretchable and easy-to-attach straps secure the mesh net tarp around the cargo by using a configuration of hooks at one or both ends of the strap for attaching anywhere into the woven mesh net tarp. The combination of mesh net tarp and the straps with hooks allow the mesh net to be pulled taut easily and simply by the straps to cover any configuration of cargo being transported.

A sheet of flexible material can be deployed or stored by unfurling or furling the sheet using one or more inflatables. After the sheet is deployed to, for example, cover a load on a flatbed trailer, the inflatable can be deflated for storage. A sheet that has been removed from the load can be stored by placing an inflatable along an edge of the sheet. The inflatable is pressurized, and the sheet is furled onto the inflatable by rolling the inflatable. The inflatable is deflated and rolled up with the sheet for storage.

A two line spring reel unit, including a housing defining a first opening and a second opening; a first anchor and a second anchor, inside and fixed to the housing; a first spiral spring having an inner end held by the first anchor and a second spiral spring having an interior end held by the second anchor; a first spool, fixed to rotate about a first pin, and a second spool set to rotate about a second pin and wherein the first spiral spring has an outer end attached to the first spool and the second spiral spring has an outer end attached to the second spool; and a first tension member, wrapped about the first spool and extending out of the first opening and a second tension member wrapped about the second spool and extending out of the second opening.

Apparatuses described herein relate to improving the prevention of cargo movement during vehicle travel. In one embodiment, an apparatus for securing cargo within a vehicle includes a bladder coupled to an underside of a cover that extends over a cargo area, where the bladder faces the cargo area. The apparatus includes a supply device coupled with the bladder via a connecting member to expand the bladder into contact with the cargo within the cargo area.

The invention relates to a tarp spooling device, mainly comprising a motor, a reduction gear set, a bevel gear set, a tarp reel, and a clutch, wherein the reduction gear set is coupled to the rotor shaft of the motor, the bevel gear set is coupled to the reduction gear set, the tarp reel is coupled to the bevel gear set, and the clutch is coupled between the reduction gear set and the bevel gear set. When the motor is activated, the rotor shaft drives the tarp reel to rotate through the reduction gear set, the bevel gear set, and the clutch; and when the motor is deactivated, the clutch locks the tarp reel, and the tarp reel is unable to be rotated. When the motor is deactivated, the clutch is self-locked, and only when the motor is activated again, the tarp reel can be rotated again.

A cargo restraint system for securing cargo on a truck bed of a truck is provided. The cargo restraint system includes a cargo retaining sheet having first and second end portions and an interior sheet portion disposed between the first and second end portions. The first and second end portions extend parallel to a longitudinal axis of the cargo retaining sheet and are spaced apart from another and form first and second apertures, respectively, therein. The cargo restraint system further includes a first adjustable length strap that extends through the first aperture in the cargo retaining sheet and is attachable to the truck. The cargo restraint system further includes a second adjustable length strap that extends through the second aperture in the cargo retaining sheet and is attachable to the truck.

A cover for covering a car or luggage on top of a car is described. The cover is made of a stretchy material such that it can expand to tightly fit the size and shape of a large variety of items or vehicles. Thus, the material composition as well as cover layers are crucial in obtaining the optimal balance of flexibility and protection. In many embodiments securing mechanisms are provided around the base of the cover as well as over the top of the cover to aid in securing the cover over the items or vehicle. In some embodiments a lower cover is provided which sits under items on top of a vehicle and protects the roof of the vehicle from the items.
