Pivoting latch locking assemblies for height-adjustable twistlocks
A locking latch assembly for an adjustable-height twistlock assembly includes a mounting bracket configured to be secured to a housing base of the twistlock assembly, a latch having a forked portion configured to engage with a shaft rigidly connected to a locking pin of the twistlock assembly, an axle passing through the mounting bracket, and a latch pin secured on the mounting bracket. The latch is secured around the axle to allow the latch to pivot relative to the mounting bracket. The latch pin engages a first surface of the latch when the latch is in a locked position, and engages a second surface of the latch when the latch is in an unlocked position. The forked portion of the latch is configured to engage with the shaft, in the locked position of the latch, so that the shaft is substantially restricted from rotational movement. The locking pin has a head and a stem, and the shaft is secured to the stem. The stem has an upper bolt hole and a lower bolt hole passing therethrough, the upper bolt hole passing through the stem in a direction perpendicular to the lower bolt hole. The shaft has an upper bolt hole and a lower bolt hole passing therethrough, the upper bolt hole passing through the stem in a same direction as the lower bolt hole. The shaft is adjustably secured to the stem of the locking pin by a bolt passing through the upper bolt holes of the shaft and the stem or passing through the lower bolt holes of the shaft and the stem.
Cargo restraint system
A cargo restraint system comprises a plurality of cargo restraint assemblies. Each cargo restraint assembly in the plurality of cargo restraint assemblies may be removably coupled to a cargo deck in various configurations. The plurality of cargo restraint assemblies may be reconfigurable based on a size of a plurality of unit load devices (ULDs) to be loaded and restrained. Each cargo restraint assembly may restrain four or fewer corners of respective ULDs simultaneously.
Remotely controlled twistlock assembly
A remotely controlled twistlock assembly includes a T-shaped twistlock locking pin and a twistlock housing within which the T-shaped twistlock locking pin is mounted. A motion converter is mounted within the twistlock housing and is connected to the T-shaped twistlock locking pin. A remotely controlled pin actuator is linked to the motion converter in a manner such that extension and retraction of the pin actuator causes rotation of the motion converter and the T-shaped twistlock locking pin. A latch is mounted within the twistlock housing and is engageable with the motion converter such that the latch locks the motion converter when the latch is engaged with the motion converter and unlocks the motion converter when the latch is disengaged from the motion converter. A remotely controlled latch actuator is linked to the latch in a manner such that retraction and extension of the latch actuator controls engagement and disengagement of the latch with the motion converter. At least one feedback device is mounted within the twistlock housing and is positioned to provide remote reporting of a position of at least one of the motion converter and the latch.
METHOD AND DEVICE FOR SUPPORTING AND WEIGHING A SHIPPING CONTAINER
A method for supporting and weighing a shipping container, the method including the steps of: providing a shipping container having a corner casting (20); providing a twistlock (30); locating the shipping container such that the twistlock (30) is engaged with the corner casting (20); locating a lifting device (2) inside the corner casting (20), the lifting device (1) having a pair of jaws (3, 4) and an actuator (5); moving the pair of jaws (3, 4) apart using the actuator (5) from a first position to a second position to lift the shipping container relative to the twistlock (30), wherein in the second position the jaws (3, 4) support at least a portion of the weight of the shipping container, and wherein the shipping container remains substantially engaged with the twistlock (30) in the second position; locating a weighing device (10) between the shipping container and the twistlock (30); and moving the pair of jaws (3, 4) from the second position to the first position to apply a force to the weighing device (10), the weighing device (10) providing an indication of the force applied to the weighing device (10).
Swing latch locking assembly for height-adjustable twistlocks
A locking latch assembly for a twistlock assembly that is adjustable over a range of heights of a load level of the twistlock assembly relative to a deck level includes a base bracket configured to be secured to a housing of the twistlock assembly, and a swing latch having a central slot. An axle passes through the base bracket, the swing latch being secured around the axle to allow the swing latch to swing relative to the base bracket. At least one pin is secured on the base bracket, the at least one pin engaging a first surface of the swing latch when the swing latch is in a substantially vertical locked position in which the swing latch is at a first angular position relative to the base bracket, and engaging a second surface of the swing latch when the swing latch is in an unlocked position in which the swing latch is at a second angular position relative to the base bracket. The at least one pin is configured to be disengaged from the swing latch to allow the swing latch to swing relative to the base bracket. The slot of the swing latch has a width sized to allow a T-handle attached to a T-shaped locking pin of the twistlock assembly to pass therethrough and to be substantially restricted from rotational movement while the swing latch is in the substantially vertical locked position, and has a length sized to allow the T-handle of the twistlock assembly to pass therethrough throughout all of the range of heights of the twistlock assembly.
LOCKING SYSTEM AND METHOD OF USE
A railcar locking system includes an elongated tower having an outer rail configured to engage with a lower railcar via a restrain cone; a locking arm extending from the elongated tower; a first locking cone secured to the locking arm and configured to engage with the lower railcar; and a second locking cone secure to the locking arm and configured to engage with an upper railcar.
SUPPORTING ARRANGEMENT FOR A CARRIED LOAD, MORE PARTICULARLY A LOAD CARRIED ON A SHIP
A supporting arrangement for a carried load, more particularly a load carried on a ship such as, for example, a container, is provided. The supporting arrangement provides for connecting, in a non-rigid manner, the carried load to a bearing structure integral with the ship and to this aim it comprises a plurality of movement dampers interposed between the carried load and the bearing structure. The dampers can be directly interposed between the load and the bearing structure; alternatively, the supporting arrangement further comprises a supporting frame and the movement dampers are applied to the supporting frame. Owing to the fact that the carried load is not rigidly connected to the structure of the ship, the movements to which the ship is subjected during sea travel, especially because of wave movement, are not transmitted to the carried load, which therefore does not risk falling overboard.
COUPLING DEVICE FOR CONNECTING INTERMODAL CONTAINERS
A coupling device for engagement with two corner castings of two intermodal containers stacked upon each other includes a positioning member and upper and lower coupling members. The lower coupling member has a lower neck portion, a lower coupling portion, and first and second shoulder surfaces disposed at a juncture between the lower neck and coupling portions. With the engagement of the shoulder surfaces with the corner casting on the lower container, the lower coupling member can be retained in the corner casting to prevent undesired separation of the containers when the containers are subjected to a lateral force during rolling with winds and waves at sea upon shipping.
CONTAINER LOCKING DEVICE AND CONTAINER LOCKING METHOD
A container locking device for locking a container having a corner fitting to be transported on a loading surface of a vehicle, having a locking housing, a locking bolt and a drive. The locking bolt has a shaft and a locking head which, in the unlocked state, can be inserted through an opening of the corner fitting of the container and rotated 90? into the locked state in which it secures the container via protrusions which engage behind the opening of the corner fitting. The locking bolt is driven to be both axially displaceable and rotatable about its axis. The invention further relates to a container locking method that can be carried out using the above-mentioned device.
