Cargo Restraining System for Vehicles

A cargo restraining system for use in a trunk or cargo area of a vehicle includes at least one restraining unit. The restraining unit comprises a bottom panel, a face panel, and a back panel. The bottom panel and the face panel are hingedly attached together along adjacent edges. The back panel is hingedly attached to face panel along the edge opposite that to which the bottom panel is hingedly attached. The restraining unit can be erected from a flat configuration wherein the three panels are substantially coplanar with each other to an upstanding operational or functional configuration. In the upstanding configuration, the bottom panel sits on a surface, the face panel is pivoted upwardly to extend vertically from the surface, and the back panel is hinged downwardly at an angle and its free edge is attached to the free edge of the bottom panel. The erected restraining unit thus forms a right triangular shape when viewed from an end. Additional like restraining units can be hingedly snapped together end-to-end to form a chain of restraining units. Hook-type fasteners can be formed on the underside of the bottom panel for securement to a carpeted surface or a non-slip coating can be provided for securement to a smooth surface. When in an upstanding configuration, one or more restraining units can be positioned on a vehicle surface adjacent to items of cargo such as boxes or grocery bags. A chain of restraining units can be formed into straight, curved, or serpentine shapes to conform to the footprint of cargo in a trunk or cargo space.

A truck bed height extension assembly for a pickup truck includes a truck bed and a pair of side panels. The truck bed includes a floor and a pair of spaced apart sidewalls. Each of the pair of spaced apart sidewalls includes an exterior wall, an opposite interior wall, and an elongated cavity positioned between the exterior wall and the interior wall of each of the pair of sidewalls. The pair of side panels are linearly displaceable in a vehicle vertical direction between a retracted position and an extended position. In the retracted position, each of the pair of side panels are positioned within the elongated cavity defined in each of the pair of sidewalls. In the extended position, each of the pair of side panels are positioned to extended at least partially outside of the elongated cavity of each of the pair of sidewalls.

A collapsible trunk for use with a vehicle having a wheel well. The trunk comprises a base wall and a side wall pivotally connected thereto. The side wall extends from the base wall and terminates at an upper edge. The side wall and base wall collectively define a storage cavity. The base wall and the side wall each have an expandable portion conformable to the wheel well in response to placement of the base wall and the side wall over the wheel well. The trunk is selectively transitional between a collapsed configuration and a deployed configuration. In the collapsed configuration, the base panels overlap each other, and in the deployed configuration, the plurality of base panels are co-planar to each other. The upper edge of the side wall moves away from the base wall as the trunk transitions from the collapsed configuration toward the deployed configuration.

DEPLOYABLE CARGO ORGANIZER FOR USE IN THE CARGO AREA OF A VEHICLE

A cargo organizer for use on a load floor of a vehicle includes a first divider wall rotatably connected to the load floor and a second divider wall rotatably connected to the load floor and spaced apart from the first divider wall to define at least one storage compartment. The first divider wall and the second divider wall are configured to operate in a stowed position and in a deployed position. The cargo organizer also includes a linkage mechanism connected to the first divider wall and the second divider wall. The linkage mechanism is configured to move the first divider wall and the second divider wall from the stowed position to the deployed position when one of the first divider wall and the second divider wall is moved from the stowed position to the deployed position.
