Advanced warning lighting systems and methods for motorcycle helmets

An advanced warning light system in a motorcycle has a brake light comprising a plurality of light emitting diodes (LED) wherein each LED is configured to illuminate a first color when a motorcycle brake is depressed and wherein only a subset of LEDs are configured to illuminate when the motorcycle is decelerating not in response to the brake being depressed. The system further has a controller area network (CAN) bus for transmitting messages, at least one controller configured for monitoring operations of a motorcycle, the at least one controller further configured for transmitting a message on the CAN bus when a monitored operation occurs on the motorcycle, the message comprising data indicating that the vehicle is slowing down, and a CAN bus interface configured to receive the message from the CAN bus and determine if the brake is being depressed or if the motorcycle is slowing down not in response to the brake being depressed, the CAN bus interface configured to transmit a message to illuminate all LEDs on the brake light if the brake is being depressed and configured to transmit a message to illuminate only the subset of LEDs on the brake light if the motorcycle is slowing down for a reason other than the brake being depressed. Additionally, the system has a processor configured for receiving the message from the CAN bus interface, the processor further configured for illuminating the brake light or a subset of the LEDs on the brake light based upon the message received to indicate to a driver following the motorcycle that the motorcycle is slowing down.

Safety Brakelight System

This disclosure provides a three-color coded brake lights system, analogous to those found in common traffic lights. In one embodiment, a green light may be at the center, yellow or amber lights on both sides of the green light, and red lights adjacent to the yellow or amber lights. The system may operate analogous to a traffic light to signal the tailing driver on the real-time status and or behavior of a lead car, and also significantly mitigate the severity of rear-end and other collisions with the application of a three color-coded system being followed by global motorists for safe driving.

BRAKE LIGHT FOR TRUCK BED ENCLOSURE
20210001768 · 2021-01-07 ·

An auxiliary third brake light which is installed on a removable or collapsible truck bed enclosure or frame is disclosed. The auxiliary third brake light is preferably not physically secured by adhesive or mechanical fastener to the truck bed, cab or body or any part of the truck. Rather, the parts of the auxiliary third brake light that are mounted to the truck bed cover and contact the truck bed, cab or body is pressed into contact. In this way, when the truck bed cover is collapsed or removed, the user can have full use of the truck bed. The parts of the auxiliary third brake light that contact the truck bed, cab or body are pulled off therefrom. When the truck bed cover is deployed to the erected position or put back on the truck bed, the parts of the third brake light that contact the truck bed, cab or body are properly repositioned back into position.

Rear-view camera and light system for vehicle

A rear-view camera and light system for a vehicle having a rear-view camera, a back light, and a brake light and an attachment structure that attaches the system to a center hub of a spare tire at the back of the vehicle. The rear-view camera and light system includes a mounting base having a plate like shape and configured to attach to a mounting bracket provided on about a center of a back of a vehicle for mounting a spare tire, a mounting post having a cylindrical shape with a hollow therethrough and configured to attach to the mounting base at one end, and a camera/light unit having circular shape and configured to attach to another end of the mounting post.

Swing away support assembly for spare tire carrier
10858050 · 2020-12-08 · ·

Disclosed herein are embodiments of a swing away support assembly that can be installed on a tailgate of a vehicle, such as on a bumper and/or rear panel of the vehicle. The swing away support assembly can provide additional structural support for spare tires and/or other heavy mounted objects. Advantageously, the swing away support assembly is compatible with existing spare tire carriers, backup cameras, and rear lights.

Reflective ink lighting assembly

A reflective-ink lighting assembly includes a light transferring medium, a reflective-ink marking in the light transferring medium, and a light source adapted to insert light into the light transferring medium. In a lit state, light from the light source propagates through the light transferring medium by total-internal reflection. As propagated light reflects off the reflective-ink marking, some light exits through a faade of the light transferring medium to produce an illuminated marking. In an unlit state, the reflective-ink marking remains visible due to ambient light reflecting off the reflective-ink marking.

EXTERNAL LUMINOUS SIGNALING VEHICLE GLAZING, VEHICLE INCORPORATING SAME AND MANUFACTURE
20200370727 · 2020-11-26 ·

An exterior light signaling vehicle glazing selected from a rear window and a side window or a windshield, includes a first glazing which forms an outer glazing and has first and second main faces; a superficially light emitting element such as an OLED or QLED; a holographic redirecting optical system or collimating optical system with one or more optical films followed by a redirecting optical system with one or more optical films.

Radiation-emitting semiconductor chip, rear light for a motor vehicle, motor vehicle, and optical distance measurement device

A radiation-emitting semiconductor chip includes a semiconductor layer sequence having an active layer for generating electromagnetic radiation. The semiconductor chip also includes a reflector at a side surface of the semiconductor layer sequence having a reflector surface facing the semiconductor layer sequence and extending obliquely with respect to the active layer. The semiconductor chip further includes a top surface extending transversely with respect to the reflector surface and having a first emission region. The semiconductor chip additionally includes a further reflector situated opposite the reflector. The semiconductor chip is configured such that electromagnetic radiation generated in the active layer during operation is reflected by the reflector and emerges from the semiconductor chip via the emission region of the top surface. A main emission direction of the emerging electromagnetic radiation together with the active layer form an emergence angle of between 30 and 80 inclusive.

Device for managing at least two light functions for a motor vehicle

A device for managing at least two light functions accommodated in a same motor vehicle light device, the managing device comprising a block of light sources for each light function, wherein the managing device further comprises: an input block configured to: provide a power supply common to the at least two light functions; indicate if the at least two light functions are activated or deactivated; a bias block configured to supply a stabilized reference voltage common to the at least two light functions; a switching block for each light function, one switching block of which is configured to deactivate one of the at least two light functions that is defined as secondary with respect to the other of the at least two light functions that is defined as having priority if the latter is activated.
