Multifunction vehicle lamp

A lamp for a vehicle or other object that includes multiple functions. In one aspect, the lamp includes a first circuit for emitting a first color light (such as red light), and at least a second circuit for emitting a second color of light (such as amber light). In another aspect, the lamp optionally includes a microcontroller that may be programmed to control the activation of the different colored lamp circuits based on lamp location information, and based on an operating mode.

Taillight enhancement harness for a towed vehicle
11745554 · 2023-09-05 ·

A taillight enhancement harness for providing a lighting enhancement to a taillight of a towed vehicle. The harness interconnects a first lighting system of a towing vehicle and a second lighting system of the towed vehicle. A lighting enhancement circuit is interposed between a first connector, configured to couple to the towing vehicle, and a second connector, configured to couple to the towed vehicle. The lighting enhancement circuit is configured to activate a taillight of the towed vehicle in a strobe operation. After a predetermined temporal period, the taillight resumes a normal indication operating mode for the taillight.

Enhanced vehicle and trailer operation

An electrical resistance of a lamp in communication with a computer is determined. A respective classification for each of the electrical resistance, a vehicle length, and a trailer length is determined. Each classification is associated to a respective range of values of one of the electrical resistance, the vehicle length, or the trailer length. Based on the classifications a trailer that is attached to a vehicle is detected. One or more components of the vehicle are actuated to move the trailer.

Aerodynamic magnetically attached light for a towed vehicle

A removable light for a towed vehicle includes a housing with a low profile shape, an anchor, a safety tether strap, and lens protection features.

Truck Load Bed Ingress and Egress Assembly

A truck load bed ingress and egress assembly incorporating a tailgate clearance arm; a column fixedly attached to and extending upwardly from a distal end of the tailgate clearance arm; a step mounted at the tailgate clearance arm's distal end; and a light mounted at the column's upper end, the column constituting a handle which secures foot placement upon the step by stabilizing a user, the column further constituting a light mount which further secures the foot placements upon the step by illuminating the step.

Laterally extending backup light for vehicle
11654820 · 2023-05-23 ·

Method and apparatus for a laterally extendable backup light system for placement on the trailer of the 18-wheeler tractor trailer truck. The backup light would be mounted underneath an outer edge of the trailer of the tractor-trailer so that it would be extendable laterally away from the edge of the trailer so that the light portion would extend far enough outwardly to travel beyond the outer edge of the trailer so that the beam of light emanating therefrom would illuminate the area behind the rear of the trailer. A linear actuator controlled wirelessly or via hardwire by the driver of the truck would actuate the light portion of the device so that the light portion would extend from an enclosure beyond the edge of the trailer of the truck-trailer or would be retracted back into the enclosure.

Lighted guidepost for a boat trailer
11794639 · 2023-10-24 ·

The lighted guidepost for a boat trailer may comprise a guidepost and a light assembly. The guidepost may be coupled to a boat trailer such that the guidepost extends vertically above a side of the rear of the boat trailer. The guidepost may be configured to be visible even when the rear of the boat trailer is submerged in water. The light assembly may be coupled to the top of the guidepost. The light assembly may be illuminated to increase the visibility of the guidepost. A pair of lighted guideposts may be coupled to opposing sides of the rear of the boat trailer such that the light assemblies may designate the rear of the boat trailer.

Trailer connector

There is provided a vehicle mounted device (1) for connecting the electrical circuit of a towing vehicle to the electrical circuit of a towed vehicle. The device includes a body (2), a towed-side connector, and a towing side connector (3). The device is configured to receive input signals corresponding to the lights of the towing vehicle and to transmit these signals to the electrical circuits of the towed vehicle. The device includes a protection component to isolate the towing vehicle electrical system. The device may be configured to perform a testing protocol. The testing protocol can include a safety protocol that determines whether a towed vehicle is electrically connected to the device. The testing protocol may also test the functionality of the electrical circuits for the towing and towed vehicles.

Method for dynamically monitoring a trailer lighting system from a traction vehicle

A method for monitoring, from a traction vehicle, a lighting system of a trailer with first lights having at least one brake light, at least one right tail light, at least one left tail light, at least one rear fog light and/or at least one reversing light, wherein the first lights are supplied with electricity from the traction vehicle via electric circuits, and wherein during the monitoring of the lighting system of the trailer, each of the first lights is periodically checked with a first waiting time, the check determining whether the electric circuit having the first light to be checked is closed or not, wherein the first waiting time between two checks of one of the first lights is extended incrementally starting from an initial value for each individual first light if the electric circuit through this first light is not interrupted.

COMBINATION OF TRAILER BRAKING AND LIGHTING FUNCTIONS

A towed vehicle controller combines a trailer brake controller and lighting driver. The towed vehicle controller can include a trailer battery charging circuit. The towed vehicle controller operates towed vehicle braking, towed vehicle lighting and towed vehicle battery charge functions.
