20190210515 · 2019-07-11 · ·

A direction indicator unit with wipe effect and flashing hazard light function has a right-side flashing light, a left-side flashing light, and a circuit arrangement. The circuit arrangement is configured to detect a first operating signal (B1) indicative of an operation of the right-side flashing light and a second operating signal (B2) indicative of an operation of the left-side flashing light, and to provide a first logical high control signal (SS1) for activating the right-side flashing light when an XOR linkage of the first operating signal (B1) and the second operating signal (B2) results as logical high, and to provide a second logical high control signal (SS2) for activating the left-side flashing light when an XOR linkage of the first operating signal (B1) and the second operating signal (B2) results as logical high.

Safety Lighting System

A safety lighting system is connected to a hazard flasher or blinker system of a vehicle, such as a semi-tractor trailer. The system comprises an electrical circuitry for connecting the safety lighting system to the hazard flasher system, brake lights, and/or turn signals for activation of the safety lighting system when the flasher system, brake lights, and/or turn signals are activated. An LED is mounted in a trapezoidal shaped hood of a housing assembly and its illumination is reflected by a reflective inner surface of the hood and directed towards the wheel assemblies of the vehicle to provide adequate lighting around the area surrounding the wheel assemblies. A mounting frame assembly supports the housing assembly and LED for their positioning underneath the vehicle and attachment near the wheel assemblies. In a further embodiment, bolts may be used to attach the housing assembly and LED to the vehicle near the wheels.

Lane-Change Assistance System and Lane-Change Assistance Method for the Automated Performance of Multiple Lane Changes
20190152525 · 2019-05-23 ·

A lane-change assistance system for a motor vehicle performs automated lane change with at least automated lateral guidance. The lane-change assistance system is designed to determine, on the basis of information from a navigation system for navigation, that a plurality of lane changes from the current lane to a target lane are required in order to follow the navigation. The assistance system is also designed to inform the driver of a need to change lanes. By a triggering operation action by the driver, the driver can indicate the driver wants to perform the required number of lane changes in order to follow the active navigation. The assistance system checks if such a triggering operation action by the driver for triggering the required plurality of lane changes exists. If it is determined that the triggering operation action by the driver exists, the required plurality of lane changes from the current lane to a target lane are performed in an automated manner by the lane-change assistance system with at least automated lateral guidance.

This invention provides a system which integrates motor vehicle component operation into actuators located in the rim of a vehicle steering wheel. The two system actuators are located in the steering wheel at the three o'clock and 12 o'clock positions for the right-hand actuator and the nine o'clock and 12 o'clock positions for the left-hand actuator. The actuators may operate in parallel with a conventional stalk switch or controls associated with an onboard computer and only operate a vehicle component when activated and subsequently depressed. The invention further provides for vehicle component operation which does not require a driver to remove his or her hands from the steering wheel. Furthermore, the system and apparatus of the invention when integrated with steering wheel and vehicle position detection systems provides a means to disengage an activated turn signal depending on the position of the steering wheel and/or the vehicle.
