ENHANCED COMMUNICATION SYSTEM FOR VEHICLE HAZARD LIGHTS

A system for implementing strobing of existing vehicle hazard lights including an interface to a vehicle wiring harness configured to receive input to an existing vehicle flasher module, and a strobing circuit that responds to an activation signal from the vehicle wiring harness that is indicative of a hazard flasher deployment event by producing an electrical output through the interface to the vehicle wiring harness that causes a strobing of existing vehicle hazard lamps.

A vehicle lighting fixture and system where the fixture includes light emitting diodes (LEDs) and a lens. A controller monitors vehicle conditions and sends lighting commands to activate one or more LEDs based on the vehicle conditions. The LEDs can be red-green-blue (RGB) LEDs capable of emitting various different colors. The lighting commands can include illumination color, intensity level and on/off. The LEDs can be arranged in groups, where each group is separated from the other groups. The lighting commands can include a blink/steady designation, where blink causes the group to blink in the illumination color, and steady causes the group to steadily light in the illumination color. A blink frequency can control the blink rate in the illumination color. The lighting commands can include an intensity level; where when a group is activated it is illuminated in the illumination color at the intensity level.

Vehicle Lighting with Redundant Control

A lighting system of a vehicle may include light units and controllers for operating the light units. Each light unit is multifunctional in that the light unit may operate in various modes, which may be invoked at different times under varying circumstances. A light unit on the first end of a vehicle may operate as a headlight if the first end is the front end of the vehicle. On the other hand, the light unit may operate as a tail light if the first end is the rear end of the vehicle. Furthermore, the light unit may operate as a turn signal in either direction or brake light while the first end is the rear end of the vehicle. The light unit includes a lens array positioned to receive light from various light sources. The lighting system may operate in a fashion that allows for lighting redundancy on each end of the vehicle in the event of a lighting controller failure.

ILLUMINATABLE OUTER BODY PANEL FOR A VEHICLE AND OUTER BODY PANEL ILLUMINATION METHOD

A vehicle assembly includes, among other things, a replaceable outer body panel having an illuminatable portion, and at least one step within the replaceable outer body panel. The at least one step provides a step platform. A vehicle illumination method includes emitting light from a phosphor material of a replaceable outer body panel, and providing at least one step platform within the replaceable outer body panel.

Vehicular illumination system, vehicular system, vehicle, and data communication system

An illumination system includes an illumination control unit which is configured to change the illumination state of each of a left-side illumination unit (40L), a left-side auxiliary illumination unit (42L), a right-side illumination unit (40R), and a right-side auxiliary illumination unit (42R). The illumination control unit is configured to change the illumination state of the left-side illumination unit (40L) when a vehicle (1) has detected a pedestrian (P). The illumination control unit is configured to change the illumination state of the left-side auxiliary illumination unit (42L) according to the speed of the vehicle (1). The illumination control unit is configured to change the illumination state of each of light emission segments (43L) of the left-side illumination unit (40L) and each of light emission segments (44L) of the left-side auxiliary illumination unit (42L).
