ABSOLUTE ACCELERATION SENSOR FOR USE WITHIN MOVING VEHICLES
20170151994 · 2017-06-01 ·

A communication system comprises a distance calculator configured to sense objects approaching from the rear and or sides of a moving body. Particularly, the communication system is able to indicate that an object may be too close and/or approaching the moving body at an unsafe speed and/or an unsafe closure rate. In response the communication system is able to generate a response. For example, in some embodiments, the response is an external indicator that the object is too close and/or approaching the moving body. Alternatively, or in conjunction, the communication system is able to generate a warning to the moving body that an object is approaching. The warning is able to alert the moving body that the object is in the area and/or may be approaching the moving body.

ACTIVE LIGHTING CONTROL FOR COMMUNICATING A STATE OF AN AUTONOMOUS VEHICLE TO ENTITIES IN A SURROUNDING ENVIRONMENT
20170120804 · 2017-05-04 · ·

Systems, apparatus and methods implemented in algorithms, software, firmware, logic, or circuitry may be configured to process data and sensory input to determine whether an object external to an autonomous vehicle (e.g., another vehicle, a pedestrian, a bicyclist, etc.) may be a potential collision threat to the autonomous vehicle. The autonomous vehicle may include a light emitter positioned external to a surface of the autonomous vehicle and being configured to implement a visual alert by emitting light from the light emitter. Data representing a light pattern may be received by the light emitter and the light emitted by the display may be indicative of the light pattern. The light pattern may be selected to gain the attention of the object (e.g., a pedestrian, a driver of a car, a bicyclists, etc.) in order to avoid the potential collision or to alert the object to the presence of the autonomous vehicle.

Light Assembly
20170106795 · 2017-04-20 ·

A light assembly for a school bus. The light assembly includes a housing having a front side and a rear side, wherein the rear side is mountable to a school bus. The front side of the housing includes a perimeter light, a stop light, and a platform light, wherein the lights can alert vehicles approaching a stopping school bus. The perimeter light is disposed around a perimeter of the housing and can produce an amber color. The stop light includes the word stop in a non-colored transparent material and the platform light, disposed between the perimeter light and the stop light, can produce a red color. In one embodiment, the light assembly is operably connected to a control, speedometer, and door assembly of a school bus, allowing the light assembly to automatically activate when the school bus stops and automatically deactivate when the school bus door closes.

An apparatus may comprise a base member defined by a rectangular aperture configured to receive and engage an automobile intake airbox. The base member may be further defined by a perimeter surrounding the rectangular aperture and having at least one fastener or aperture configured to receive a fastener dimensioned to avoid disturbing the automobile intake airbox. A gooseneck member may be fixedly attached to the base member. The gooseneck member may have a first end opening and a second end opening, with an interior cavity configured to direct air into the automobile intake airbox from the second end opening to the first end opening. An interchangeable bell housing may be removably secured to the second end opening of the gooseneck member. The interchangeable bell housing may have a frustoconical shaped cross section on at least one plane.

TURN AND BRAKE INDICATOR FOR A VEHICLE
20250178523 · 2025-06-05 ·

A vehicle for indicating to viewers in front of the vehicle when the vehicle is decelerating and about to make a turn includes a brake deployment indicator. The brake employment indicator is mounted to a front end of a body of the vehicle and activates when a brake pedal and a turn signal are both operated. The brake deployment indicator may include a light which is visually distinct from rear brake lights of the vehicle.

VEHICLE ALERT SYSTEM
20250256643 · 2025-08-14 ·

A vehicle alert system for instructing observers as to movement of the vehicle. A scoop adheres against an inside surface of a windshield and supports a plurality of illuminating elements communicating with a PCBA, along with each of an accelerometer, on board diagnostic system and a power supply. In response to a determined acceleration of the structure, the accelerometer inputs a signal to the PCBA representative of the vehicle movement and the PCBA in turn provides an output signal causing illuminating elements to generate a visual output corresponding to said input signal and further representative of a decelerating or braking condition of the vehicle. An ambient light sensor (ALS) can be incorporated into the assembly for managing lighting/LED intensity based upon exterior lighting conditions.

A visual front alert system attached to an inside surface of a vehicle windshield for instructing observers as to movement of the vehicle. A strip shaped body includes outer layers of a silicone material which incorporates flex PCB containing a plurality of illuminating elements. A clear adhesive is applied over the front silicone layer for securing the strip display bodies to surface locations of the windshield. An accelerometer is connected to the PCB, with a power supply operating the accelerometer and PCBA. In response to a determined acceleration of the structure, the accelerometer inputs a signal to the PCB, representative of the vehicle movement, with the PCB in turn providing an output signal causing the illuminating elements to generate a visual output corresponding to said input signal. The visual output further includes a first output representative of a steady or accelerating motion of the vehicle and a second output further representative of a decelerating or braking condition of the vehicle.
