VEHICLE MAINTENANCE OPERATION

A system includes a processor and a memory. The memory stores instructions executable by the processor to identify a vehicle fault condition, select a vehicle component according to a location of the fault condition in the vehicle and a detected location of a user outside of the vehicle, and actuate the vehicle component.

AUTONOMOUS SAFETY FOR PEDESTRIANS TECHNOLOGY
20190179306 · 2019-06-13 · ·

The invention is a pedestrian safety method and system that compares characteristic acoustic and motion signatures to sound and motion signatures collected in real-time through a vehicle's monitoring system to detect and confirm that the vehicle itself presents a danger to pedestrians or others in proximity to the vehicle and autonomously stops the offending vehicle by quickly initiating disabling measures.

EXTERNAL VEHICLE NOTIFICATION INFORMATION SYSTEM AND VEHICLE HAVING THE SAME

An external vehicle notification information system may include a projector illuminating generated information using a light source, a lens transmitting the information, a reflector reflecting partial information of the information toward the lens, and a screen displaying the partial information transmitted from the lens.

AUTOMATIC HAZARD LIGHT SYSTEMS AND METHODS
20190176687 · 2019-06-13 ·

Systems and methods of automatically operating a vehicle's hazards lights are provided. The speed of vehicle can be determined. When the speed of the vehicle is compared to an expected speed of the vehicle given various operating conditions, e.g., the output of the vehicle's engine (engine RPM) or motor (motor rotation), is slower than expected, it is assumed that the vehicle is towing a load. When the vehicle is towing a load and is also traveling at a speed that is substantially slower than the flow of traffic, a current speed limit, etc., a determination can be made to automatically activate the vehicle's hazard lights. Alternatively, even if the vehicle is towing a load, but is traveling at a speed that does not warrant activation of the vehicle's hazard lights, the hazard lights may be automatically deactivated.

Vehicle alert system utilizing communication system
10316571 · 2019-06-11 · ·

A collision avoidance system for a vehicle includes a communication device disposed at a carrier exterior and remote from the vehicle. The communication device is operable to communicate information regarding location and motion of the communication device carried by the carrier relative to the vehicle. A receiver receives a communication from the communication device, and a processor processes information communicated by the communication device. The processor, responsive to processing communicated information, determines the location and motion of the communication device relative to the vehicle. A side sensing device is disposed at a side of the vehicle and operable to capture data, which is processed to determine approach of the carrier to the vehicle from rearward of the vehicle. Data captured by the side sensing device and information communicated by the communication device are processed by the processor to determine existence of a potential collision between the carrier and the vehicle.

Vehicle slide detection

A system for monitoring vehicle dynamics and detecting adverse events during operation is presented. Position sensors attached to a vehicle are configured to identify a vehicle orientation (heading) as well as the vehicle's direction of travel (trajectory). A system controller connected to these position sensors can detect the difference between these two measurements. When the difference between these two measurements exceeds a safety threshold, it can be an indication of a slip event. A slip event can be caused by compromised traction or stability and may lead to a loss of vehicle control. The system controller can be configured to monitor various vehicle dynamics to detect these slip events. The system controller may be configured to track geolocations of slip events to create a database of historical slip events for determining location-based risk factors and prevention of future events.
