NOTIFICATION DEVICE
20210229598 · 2021-07-29 ·

A notification device provided in a vehicle including an autonomous driving system which causes the vehicle to travel by autonomous driving and to evacuate the vehicle when a failure occurs, includes a display unit configured to display information toward an outside of the vehicle, and a display controller configured to control the display unit. The display controller causes the display unit to be turned on or flicker when a failure occurs and changes a display of the display unit in at least one of a time when an evacuation starts and a time when an evacuation is completed.

Reflective device for warning of the presence of a stalled vehicle
11072279 · 2021-07-27 ·

A reflective warning device for warning oncoming traffic of a stalled vehicle in a road, having a supporting member attachable to a stalled vehicle to extend outwardly there from when the device is attached to the vehicle, and a cylindrical display element mounted on the supporting member and having a reflective surface facing oncoming traffic to indicate the presence of a stalled vehicle to oncoming traffic. The device is storable conveniently in a vehicle for use when needed should an emergency arise.

Emergency assistance system with acoustic external warning
11091089 · 2021-08-17 · ·

A method for operating a transportation vehicle that includes an emergency assistance system to issue a warning signal to the surroundings of the transportation vehicle based on a risk factor in the presence of initial indications of no longer sufficiently guaranteed human or technical control of the transportation vehicle.

VEHICLE DISTANCE WARNING AND SIGNALLING SYSTEM WITH DYNAMICALLY GENERATED TTC (DWSS-TTC)
20210221369 · 2021-07-22 ·

A system and a method are provided for calculating variable forward and backward unsafe distances between two tailgating vehicles for generating variable forward and backward staged Time-to-Collision pulses in real-time driving. The system also generates low-speed pulses and uses its speed sampling method for producing forward and backward distance reduction rate pulses.

The system uses the staged backward Time-to-Collision pulses and the backward distance reduction rate pulses for producing distance warning signals on the rear of its host vehicle. The system also uses its low-speed pulses for implementing a stoplight on the rear of vehicles regardless of vehicles' distance. The system provides the staged forward Time-to-Collision pulses and the forward distance reduction rate pulses for supporting Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) system of its host vehicle with braking and steering initiation and intensity.

LIGHTING APPARATUS FOR VEHICLE
20210254806 · 2021-08-19 ·

The present invention relates to a lighting apparatus for a vehicle that includes a housing; a screen unit mounted in the housing; and a projection unit fixed to the housing and configured to radiate light toward the screen unit.

GUIDANCE APPARATUS FOR AUTONOMOUS VEHICLE AND METHOD THEREFOR

A guidance apparatus for an autonomous vehicle and a method therefor are provided. The guidance apparatus includes a first guidance device that guides a passenger in the autonomous vehicle through first response information, a second guidance device that guides a rescuer outside the autonomous vehicle through second response information, and a controller that controls guidance on the first response information and guidance on the second response information, when abnormality occurs in the autonomous vehicle.

Systems and methods for adapting activation timing of alerts

System, methods, and other embodiments described herein relate to alerting a passenger about hazards when exiting a subject vehicle. In one embodiment, a method includes identifying an initial target and a subsequent target according to sensor data about a surrounding environment of the subject vehicle. The method includes, in response to determining that the initial target satisfies an alert threshold, activating an initial alert for a defined time to inform the passenger of a hazard associated with the initial target and the passenger exiting the subject vehicle into a path of the initial target. The method includes extending the defined time responsive to the subsequent target satisfying the alert threshold and a timing threshold that defines a cool-down period between activating separate alerts.

REDUCING RISKS FROM EMERGENCY VEHICLE LIGHTS
20210245656 · 2021-08-12 ·

An emergency vehicle that is displaying emergency lights detects an approaching vehicle, and assesses road conditions, intensity of the emergency lights at the approaching vehicle, a response of the approaching vehicle to the emergency lights, and a state variable related to a driver of the approaching vehicle. The emergency vehicle then obtains a likelihood value that the approaching vehicle will initiate an accident, by supplying information about the road conditions, the intensity of the emergency lights at the approaching vehicle, the response of the approaching vehicle, and the state variable as inputs to a neural network trained to correlate accidents to such information. In response to the likelihood value exceeding a threshold value, the emergency vehicle modifies the emergency lights.
