External facing communications for autonomous vehicles
Aspects of the disclosure provide for displaying notifications on a display of an autonomous vehicle 100. In one instance, a distance from the vehicle to a destination of the vehicle or a passenger may be determined. When the distance is between a first distance and a second distance, a first notification 650 may be displayed on the display. The second distance may be less than the first distance. When the distance is less than the second distance, a second notification 660 may be displayed on the display. The second notification provides additional information not provided by the first notification.

Visual speed indication device for motor vehicles and method thereof
This disclosure relates generally to motor vehicles, and more particularly to motor vehicle and device for visually indicating a speed of the motor vehicle, and method thereof. In one embodiment, a method is provided for visually indicating a speed of a motor vehicle. The method includes receiving an instantaneous speed of the motor vehicle from one or more odometry devices of the motor vehicle and an instantaneous temperature on an external surface of the motor vehicle from one or more temperature sensors. The method further includes configuring one or more thermoelectric couple strips to regulate temperatures of one or more corresponding thermochromic paint coating layers disposed on the external surface of the motor vehicle, based on the instantaneous speed and the instantaneous temperature, to dynamically control indication of a color pattern associated with a range of instantaneous speed of the motor vehicle.

A vehicle includes a rear lamp display configured to display images as well as perform the usual functions of a rear lamp assembly. The rear lamp display may include a light source and a digital mirror device. Obstacles detected may trigger display of a static or animated representation of the obstacle in the rear lamp display. Detection of a turn may invoke display of a direction of the turn as well as text indicating a target of the turn. Detection of an intervention of a vehicle system to maintain stability, a warning may be displayed that indicates potentially hazardous road conditions. Warning light system for truck safety
A signal light system including a measuring device, control unit, signal light, and flasher module. The measuring device determines the velocity of a vehicle and generates a first signal indicative of the velocity of the vehicle. The control unit receives, the first signal, processes the first signal from the velocity measuring device and generates a second signal when the velocity of the vehicle is below the threshold velocity. The flasher module receives the second signal from the control unit and enables the signal light to provide a warning. The signal light remains activated to provide the warning while the vehicle travels at any velocity below the threshold velocity.
Warning light system for truck safety
A signal light system including a measuring device, control unit, signal light, and flasher module. The measuring device determines the velocity of a vehicle and generates a first signal indicative of the velocity of the vehicle. The control unit receives, the first signal, processes the first signal from the velocity measuring device and generates a second signal when the velocity of the vehicle is below the threshold velocity. The flasher module receives the second signal from the control unit and enables the signal light to provide a warning. The signal light remains activated to provide the warning while the vehicle travels at any velocity below the threshold velocity.
DYNAMIC INTER-VEHICLE COMMUNICATION REGARDING RISK DETECTED BASED ON VEHICLE SENSOR MEASUREMENTS
Sensors coupled to a first vehicle are used to measure sensor measurements. Based on the sensor measurements, the first vehicle identifies a risk to the first vehicle and/or to a second vehicle near the first vehicle, for example based on a distance between the first and second vehicle being unsafely low. The first vehicle generates an alert based on the risk and outputs the alert toward the second vehicle, for example visually through a screen and/or audibly using speakers, to warn an operator of the second vehicle about the risk.
Light projection system
Provided is a light projection system that can be used to indicate a robot's path of travel, a robot including the light projection system, and methods for projecting light to indicate a robot's path of travel. The light projection system can by mounted to the body of the robot, and can be configured to project light onto the ground in front of the robot. The light projection system can be configured to project different illumination patterns that can indicate whether the robot is moving forward, turning, accelerating, and/or slowing down, among other examples.
