External facing communications for autonomous vehicles
Aspects of the disclosure provide for displaying notifications on a display of an autonomous vehicle. In one instance, a distance from the vehicle to a destination of the vehicle or a passenger may be determined. When the distance is between a first distance and a second distance, a first notification may be displayed on the display. The second distance may be less than the first distance. When the distance is less than the second distance, a second notification may be displayed on the display. The second notification provides additional information not provided by the first notification.
SYSTEM AND METHOD TO DETECT DRIVER INTENT AND EMPLOY SAFE DRIVING ACTIONS
Systems and methods are directed towards the interpretation of driver intent relative to other vehicles. A computing device within a vehicle includes at least one camera, an output device, and circuitry. The computing device captures images of an area outside of the vehicle. The computing device identifies another vehicle relative to the vehicle. The computing device determines a driving intent of the driver, such as based on an analysis images or audio of the driver. The computing device determines whether the vehicle is moving within a threshold time after determining the driving intent. If the vehicle is moving within the threshold time, then the driver is identified as engaging in aggressive driving towards the other vehicle. The computing device may also provide information to the other vehicle indicating the driving intent of the driver.
BLIND SPOT WARNING APPARATUS, ASSEMBLY AND METHOD
A light fixture adapted to be attached to a side of a vehicle, the light fixture including an elongated triangular shaped structure with a face viewable from, the rear of the vehicle, the face including a visual indicator electrically connected to the light fixture. The visual indicator comprises letters, words, symbols or other warning indicia to convey a visual warning to the driver of a second vehicle that is in proximity to the vehicle.

A vehicle and control method of the vehicle are provided. The vehicle includes a camera provided on the vehicle and configured to capture an image of an object outside the vehicle, a controller configured to determine a photographing position required for facial recognition from the captured image, a guide configured to guide the photographing position, and a display configured to display a result of the facial recognition.
Excavator safety system and method
A safety light system on an excavator or parked vehicle that is manually operated by the excavator operator. The unit is typically controlled by a single button located in the excavator cab. The excavator operator presses the button. A green LED, or other green light, projects a green beam of light toward the rear of the truck. This signals the truck driver that he can begin backing toward the excavator. At a predetermined distance, the excavator operator again pushes the button. The unit switches to an orange light. Finally, in a final position, the excavator operator again presses the button to project a red light. As the truck driver backs toward the excavator, he first sees green, then orange and finally red. Upon seeing red, he knows to stop backing. A fourth push can again project a green light signaling a safe condition for drive-away.
METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR OPERATING A SIGNAL SYSTEM, SIGNAL SYSTEM, VEHICLE
A method for operating a signal system, in particular for a vehicle, a gaze direction of a user being monitored by way of at least one first sensor, a warning signal being outputted depending on the gaze direction detected. Provision is made that by way of at least one second sensor, an environment of the user is monitored for possible target objects, the detected gaze direction of the user being compared with the environment. When the gaze direction of the user points toward one of the possible target objects, that target object is designated as a selected target object and, depending on a triggering command of the user, the warning signal is outputted into the environment for the selected target object.

A vehicle driver's intention indication system comprise a display device to display a driver's intention in a rear direction; a sound input device to receive a driver voice; a sound converter configured to convert digital sound data to visual content corresponding to the driver voice; an imaging device configured to generate a vehicle rear image; a vehicle number extraction unit configured to extract a rear vehicle number from the vehicle rear image; and a vehicle electronic controller configured to control the sound converter and the vehicle number extraction unit to output the visual content and the rear vehicle number to the display device, wherein a combination of the visual content and the rear vehicle number is displayed on the display device.

A steering apparatus of a smart mobility vehicle includes: a cockpit module disposed in front of a driver seat and a passenger seat within a vehicle; a steering wheel part connected to the cockpit module, and switchable between a position toward the driver seat and a position toward the passenger seat in a longitudinal direction of the cockpit module; and a locking part to fix the steering part according to a preset condition. The cockpit module includes a first flat section disposed in front of the driver seat and a second flat section disposed in front of the passenger seat; and a locking section curved upward to connect the first flat section and the second flat section.
Notification device
A notification device includes: a notification-sound output portion provided in a vehicle and configured to output a notification sound toward the outside of the vehicle; a notification display portion provided in the vehicle and configured to output a notification display toward the outside of the vehicle; a notification controlling portion configured to control the notification sound of the notification-sound output portion and the notification display of the notification display portion; and a stop-state determination portion configured to determine whether the vehicle during the automatic driving enters a stop state or not. When the stop-state determination portion determines that the vehicle during the automatic driving enters the stop state, the notification controlling portion outputs a stop-time notification sound as the notification sound by the notification-sound output portion and outputs a stop-time notification display as the notification display by the notification display portion.
Vehicular display system
In one embodiment of the vehicular display system, the drawing unit operates when the vehicle speed is within a predetermined low speed area, starts an operation thereof when the vehicle speed becomes above a lower limit of the low speed area, and stops the operation thereof when the vehicle speed exceeds an upper limit of the low speed area.
