A method and a corresponding device permit an at least partially computer-controlled and/or autonomous vehicle to communicate with its surroundings, in particular with a road user such as a person in its surroundings. A control unit for a vehicle is configured to receive surroundings data from one or more surroundings sensors of the vehicle and to detect at least one road user in the surroundings of the vehicle on the basis of the surroundings data. The control unit is configured to determine on the basis of the surroundings data whether there is a need for communication between the road user and the vehicle. The control unit is configured, if it has been determined that there is a need for communication between the road user and the vehicle, to actuate an adaptation system of the vehicle and/or one or more visual communication system in order to communicate with the road user.

The authentication controller is programmed to provide an initial authentication message to a user interface responsive to initiation of an authentication sequence between the vehicle and a mobile device initiating communication with the wireless transceivers, and responsive to completion of the authentication sequence, update the authentication message to indicate that the authentication sequence is complete.

However, the display screen and the LEDs allow for a personalized design selected by a user to be displayed and emitted by the LEDs. The design allows for the user to express their creativity and personality. The user may control the design, color and other features of the design with a remote or with a mobile device. Once the brake light is needed for standard functions of the vehicle the display screen corresponds with emitting those vehicle signals instead of the ornamental design.

A voice-analysis and control device receives a voice signal from a voice detection device of the motor vehicle, wherein the received voice signal describes a voice message from a person who is in exterior surroundings of the motor vehicle. The voice signal is used to ascertain a voice message content of the voice message and a thematic context of the voice message. On the basis of that, a voice output signal is provided that describes a context-related response text for the captured voice message, and the provided voice output signal is transmitted to the sound output device to output the provided voice output signal to the exterior surroundings of the motor vehicle.

A vehicle lamp with a rotating light source may include a signal receiver which receives a signal from one or more sensors provided in a vehicle; a light emitting diode (LED) portion having one or more LED elements configured to emit light toward an outside of the vehicle; a controller connected to the one or more LED elements and configured to control a light generation amount of the one or more LED elements; a signal transmitter which is connected to the signal receiver, receives the signal from the signal receiver and transmits the received signal to the controller; and a driver coupled to the LED portion and configured to rotate the LED portion, wherein the controller controls the light generation amount of the one or more LED elements in a response to the signal.
