Hitch assist system featuring trailer location identification
A hitch assist system is provided herein. The system includes an imager for capturing images of a rear-vehicle scene containing a trailer and a controller for processing the captured images. A device is disposed at a trailer location and has a display configured to flash a shape at a predetermined frequency and alternating in color. The controller identifies the shape in the captured images to determine the trailer location.

A system for calibrating a backup assist system for a trailer attached to a vehicle is provided which includes a hitch sensor continuously measuring a hitch angle between the vehicle and the trailer. A controller is configured to determine an offset of the measured hitch angle. The controller is configured to calculate and store in memory a forward offset if no reverse offset is stored.
Vehicular control system
A vehicular control system includes a central control module vehicle, a plurality of vehicular cameras disposed at a vehicle and viewing exterior of the vehicle, and a plurality of radar sensors disposed at the vehicle and sensing exterior of the vehicle. The central control module receives vehicle data relating to operation of the vehicle. The central control module is operable to process (i) vehicle data, (ii) image data and (iii) radar data. The central control module at least in part controls at least one driver assistance system of the vehicle responsive to (i) processing at the central control module of vehicle data, (ii) processing at the central control module of image data captured by at least the forward-viewing vehicular camera and (iii) processing at the central control module of radar data captured by at least a front radar sensor.

A system for assisting in the opening of a vehicle door includes a camera disposed on the vehicle for obtaining a plurality of images of an object at the periphery of the vehicle. The example system includes a controller which is configured to determine a distance between the object and a door of the vehicle based on the plurality of images and to initiate a vehicle response based on the distance.
VEHICLE HATCH CLEARANCE DETERMINING SYSTEM
A vehicle hatch clearance determining system includes a plurality of cameras disposed at the vehicle and a control having a processor for processing image data captured by the cameras. During a parking event, and responsive to processing of captured image data, the system detects objects, gathers information pertaining to detected objects exterior the vehicle and generates an environmental model based at least in part on the gathered information. With the vehicle parked, the system determines location of the vehicle relative to at least one detected object of the environmental model and determines if the model includes an object in a region that would be swept by a hatch of the parked vehicle when the hatch is being opened or closed. Responsive to determination that the object is in the region that would be swept by the hatch, the system stops movement of the hatch to avoid impact with the object.
DYNAMIC LIGHTING AND SENSOR ADJUSTMENT FOR OCCUPANT MONITORING
Systems and methods to proactively adapt image sensor settings of an occupant monitoring system to accommodate ambient lighting changes are provided. The system may track current ambient light, track the driver, and predict upcoming changing lighting conditions. Sensors are used to predict when the ambient light will change and preemptively adjust to prevent dark or washout images. The sensor adjustment may be timed so that the adjustment is made just in time or concurrently with the change in ambient light conditions. The system may predict when the light on the occupant's face will change and proactively readjust the settings of the sensor to accommodate the changed lighting conditions.
