A vehicular exterior rearview mirror assembly includes a mirror head having a mirror casing and a mirror reflective element, a support structure configured for attachment at a side of a vehicle, with the mirror head adjustably mounted at the support structure. The support structure extends laterally from the side of the vehicle. An adjustment mechanism is disposed at the end of the support structure. The adjustment mechanism is movably received at the mirror head and includes a rotatably driven gear that engages a toothed track of a mirror head bracket. Rotation of the gear causes translational movement of the mirror head bracket and the mirror head relative to the support structure to adjust the mirror head position relative to the support structure between a retracted position and an extended position.

A modular camera structure to be mounted on the rear-view mirror frame on either lateral side of a large vehicle to eliminate rear-view blind spots includes an annular base, a cover, and a fastening member. The annular base has an annular projection on which an image-recording device is placed, and a curved groove on the opposite side. The cover has a lower opening coupled with the annular projection such that the image-recording device is secured in the cover and has its lens exposed through an upper opening of the cover. A recessed portion of the fastening member and the curved groove of the annular base can engage with two opposite sides of the rear-view mirror frame respectively, before locking members lock two ends of the fastening member to the annular base to secure the annular base and the fastening member tightly to the rear-view mirror frame in a clamping manner.

MIRROR ASSEMBLY

The invention relates to a side view mirror assembly (10) comprising a first mirror (12) and a second mirror (12), a lower arm (24, 240) and an upper arm (18, 180) for mounting said assembly to a vehicle, wherein said lower and upper arms (24, 240, 18, 180) are linked by a structural element (30), wherein first and second mirrors (12, 14) are coupled to respective lower and upper arms (24, 240, 18, 180) and in that said structural element (30) integrates the first and second mirrors (12, 14) and is transparent.

System and method for enhancing driver situational awareness in a transportation vehicle

A situation communication mirror enhances driver situational awareness in a transportation vehicle. The situation communication mirror includes a rearward facing reflective member having a plurality of integrally-formed and arcuately distinct reflective surface areas. A first reflective surface area has a relatively slight curvature defining a relatively focused driver field of view. Second and third reflective surface areas each have an increased curvature as compared to the first surface area, and respectively define wider driver fields of view.
