Driving assistance systems and methods
Systems and methods for promoting safety during operation of a passenger vehicle. Such a system/method may determine positions of rear and sideview mirrors of a passenger vehicle that are optimized for a particular driver of the passenger vehicle to minimize blind spots based on the driver and the particular vehicle configuration, and for moving the rear and sideview mirrors into the optimized positions. Alternatively or in addition, such a system/method may collect data corresponding to internal and external conditions of the vehicle, optionally establish a driver profile of typical driving characteristics from the collected data, determine potential risks and/or hazards from the collected data, and warn the driver of the potential risks and/or hazards.
MIRROR ASSEMBLY
The invention relates to a side view mirror assembly (10) comprising a first mirror (12) and a second mirror (12), a lower arm (24, 240) and an upper arm (18, 180) for mounting said assembly to a vehicle, wherein said lower and upper arms (24, 240, 18, 180) are linked by a structural element (30), wherein first and second mirrors (12, 14) are coupled to respective lower and upper arms (24, 240, 18, 180) and in that said structural element (30) integrates the first and second mirrors (12, 14) and is transparent.
Warning signal controlling device for blind zones when vehicles making a lane change
A warning signal controlling device for blind zones when vehicles making a lane change is provided. The device is disposed inside each inner side of each rearview mirror of the vehicle, and comprises a lens masked by PMMA which is black and opaque, a mirror utilizing a light guide made of PMMA which is transparent, and a base assembly consisting of LED lamps, a PCB board and a base. The lens and the mirror are obtained by two-color molding, the PCB board is secured to the base, LED lamp holders are provided on the PCB board, the LED lamps are secured in the corresponding LED lamp holders and the base assembly is secured to the lens by ultrasonic welding.
Moving body recognition system
Using communication unit positional information acquired using infrastructure communication and moving body positional information detected using millimeter-wave radar, a moving body existing in a blind spot of a radar detection region is recognized, and behavior is predicted from movement information of the moving body, by deleting the moving body information detected by millimeter-wave radar from the communication unit information acquired using infrastructure communication.
VEHICULAR EXTERIOR REARVIEW MIRROR ASSEMBLY WITH BLIND SPOT INDICATOR MODULE
A vehicular exterior rearview mirror assembly includes a mirror reflective element sub-assembly having a mirror reflective element, a mirror reflector, a mirror back plate, a heater pad and a blind spot indicator module. The heater pad is disposed between the mirror reflective element and the mirror back plate and has a light transmitting portion that is aligned with an aperture of the mirror back plate. The blind spot indicator module includes a body portion and a connector portion extending from the body portion. Light emitted by at least one light emitting diode of the blind spot indicator module passes through the light transmitting portion of the heater pad and through a light-transmitting portion of the mirror reflector and exits the mirror reflective element to provide a visual icon visible to a driver of the vehicle who is driving the vehicle and who is viewing said mirror reflective element.
BACKLIGHT UNIT AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING SAME
A backlight unit for outside mirror of vehicle includes a case provided with an inner space for accommodating a stacked assembly of respective components, and having a side opening through which the stacked assembly can be inserted, wherein a window is formed integrally with a front surface of the case by a double injection manner in order to protect the respective components to be mounted in the inner space; a light source unit mounted into the inner space of the case and capable of emitting light when power is supplied; and a sealing material for sealing the side opening of the case. The stacked assembly is accommodated in the inner space of the case and then the side opening of the case is sealed by the sealing material, thereby the stacked assembly is sealed liquid-tightly in the inner space of the case.
DUAL SIDE MIRROR ASSEMBLIES AND METHODS OF CONTROLLING THE SAME
A dual side mirror assembly, of a vehicle, includes a housing pivotally coupled to the vehicle between an unfolded position and a folded position. The housing includes a primary mirror coupled to the housing and a secondary mirror coupled to the housing. In the unfolded position, the primary mirror is in a reflective state and the secondary is in an unreflective state. In the folded position, the primary mirror is in the unreflective state and the secondary mirror is in the reflective state.
System and method for enhancing driver situational awareness in a transportation vehicle
A situation communication mirror enhances driver situational awareness in a transportation vehicle. The situation communication mirror includes a rearward facing reflective member having a plurality of integrally-formed and arcuately distinct reflective surface areas. A first reflective surface area has a relatively slight curvature defining a relatively focused driver field of view. Second and third reflective surface areas each have an increased curvature as compared to the first surface area, and respectively define wider driver fields of view.
Cloaking devices constructed from reflection boundaries and color filters and vehicles comprising the same
A cloaking device includes an object-side, an image-side, a cloaked region (CR) between the object-side and the image-side. An object-side CR reflection boundary and a plurality of object-side color filters are positioned on the object side and an image-side CR reflection boundary and a plurality of image-side color filters are positioned on the image-side. The plurality of object-side color filters are spaced apart from and positioned generally parallel to the object-side CR reflection boundary, and the plurality of image-side color filters are spaced apart from and positioned generally parallel to the image-side CR reflection boundary. The plurality of object-side color filters and the plurality of image-side color filters may be co-planar and light from an object located on the object-side of the cloaking device propagates via at least two optical paths to form an image of the object on the image-side of the cloaking device.
REARVIEW DEVICE WITH MOVEABLE HEAD ASSEMBLY AND METHOD OF ASSEMBLING SAME
A rearview device for a motor vehicle includes a moveable head assembly, an actuator assembly having a fixed part and a moveable part, the moveable part being attached to the head assembly, a motor cradle configured to attach the actuator assembly to the moveable head assembly. A method of assembling a rearview device comprises providing the rearview device and attaching the actuator assembly to the moveable head assembly using the motor cradle.
