A system to detect and avoid spilled cargo in an automobile vehicle, includes an automobile vehicle rear cargo area including a floor to temporarily receive a storage item in the cargo area. A lift gate is moved between a closed and latched position and a fully open position inclusive to allow loading and removal of the storage item. A vision system identifies the storage item when initially loaded in the cargo area and identifies if the storage item is initially positioned in a cargo spill position or subsequently moves to the cargo spill position. A cargo stop device is releasably connected to the lift gate. An operating system releasably stores the cargo stop device when the storage item is not in the cargo spill position and deploys the cargo stop device when the storage item is in the cargo spill position.

A panel storage system for a vehicle includes a panel body including a first panel portion having a first plurality of mounting elements, a second panel portion having a second plurality of mounting elements, and a hinge joining the first panel portion to the second panel portion. A storage device (20) is provided for a charging cable that can charge an electrically drivable motor vehicle. The motor vehicle has a trunk (10) with side wall (16). A recess (22) for receiving the charging cable is formed in the side wall (16) and a receiving unit (24) is fastened detachably in the recess (22). The receiving unit (24) can be moved from a closed position, in which the receiving unit (24) is received in the recess (22), to an open position, in which the receiving unit (24) is positioned at least partially out of the recess (22). A receiving opening (26) of the receiving unit (24) is covered by the side wall (16) in the closed position and is accessible for the charging cable in the open position. The separate and detachable receiving unit (24) permits simple storing of a charging cable in an easy-to-clean storage device (20).
