The skid block serving as the protection device includes bracket attachment portions attached to a transmission attachment portion of the bracket, and a skid block main body extending upward from the bracket attachment portions and gradually away from the bracket extension portion, and having a distal end portion positioned between the battery and the starter and facing the battery.

STRUCTURE OF MOUNTING POWER CONVERTER IN VEHICLE

A structure of mounting a power converter in a vehicle is disclosed herein. The structure may include a converter casing of the power converter, the converter casing including legs connected to the converter casing and extending downward; and a motor housing that houses a traction motor. The legs may be integrally configured with the converter casing. Lower ends of the legs may be fixed to an upper portion of the motor housing with a space provided between the motor housing and a lower surface of the converter casing. A weak portion may be provided in at least one of the legs, and the weak portion may be configured to break or deform prior to break of fixed portions between the legs and the motor housing when crash load is applied to the converter casing.

Disclosed herein is an apparatus, which physically secures an Electronic Control Module (ECM) to the chassis frame of the engine block of a diesel vehicle's engine, such as the 12.7 Liter or the 14 Liter Series 60 Detroit Diesel Engines, using a heavy, lockable bracket that prevents the removal of the ECM from the diesel engine it controls. The most preferred embodiments comprise a diagonal cross beam with mounting cylinders on each end and studded mounting bolts, which allow the device to be secured to an engine block and to surround and secure the ECM against theft. Another embodiment comprises two inwardly-facing parallel L-beams, which comprise mounting cylinders, joined by a flat cross beam and studded mounting bolts, which allow the device to be secured to an engine block and to surround and secure the ECM against theft.

A power control unit mounting structure mounted on a vehicle includes an engine in an engine room at a front of the vehicle, an intake manifold disposed above the engine, a power control unit that is disposed above the engine, coupled to a cable, and controls power of a drive motor, and a toeboard cross member disposed on a toeboard. The engine and the toeboard cross member partly overlap in a projected plane along a fore-and-aft direction to provide a space behind the control unit in a front view of the vehicle. The intake manifold and the control unit are disposed within a contour of the engine in a plan view of the vehicle. The intake manifold is disposed ahead of the control unit, and portions of intake pipes of the intake manifold on both sides extend rearward and are partly opposed to both side surfaces of the control unit.
