Push-up ledge for trim panel

A trim panel assembly for a vehicle is provided having a pillar and a trim panel adapted to attach to at least a portion of the pillar. The trim panel having an upper edge and a lower edge. At least one ledge extending generally orthogonally away from the lower edge of the trim panel. The assembly further includes a headliner, the upper edge of the trim panel abutting the headliner to compress the headliner when the trim panel is in an installed position. The trim panel is adapted to closely abut a headliner wherein the ledge provides the installer to apply a greater force to the trim panel during installation to provide for a greater headliner crush. In order to finish installing the trim panel, the installer must push upwards on the ledges thereby creating greater interference with the headliner to properly secure the trim panel.

PLASTIC MOULDING WITH SEAMLESS HUMAN-TO-VEHICLE INTERFACE INTEGRATION

A pillar assembly for a vehicle can include a substrate, a transparent layer, and a transparent flexible film layer sealed between the substrate and the transparent layer. The film layer can have disposed thereon or attached thereto an opaque material defining apertures corresponding to displayable elements, a capacitive-sensing layer, a plurality of light emitting devices disposed proximate to the apertures, and wiring connected to the plurality of light emitting devices and the capacitive-sensing layer, the wiring being configured to connect to control circuitry. A method of manufacturing a pillar assembly can utilize two separate film layers with a transparent or translucent polymer injected therebetween and a transparent material, such as polyurethane, flooded over an outer surface.

A reversible trim piece bracket includes a body including a first attachment edge and a second attachment edge that is differently configured from the first attachment edge. The first attachment edge and second attachment edge are configured to engage a cooperating surface on a vehicle, which may be associated with a vehicle structure such as a B-pillar. The first attachment edge may include one or more catches defining a first length for engaging the cooperating surface. The second attachment edge may include one or more catches defining a second length that is different from the first length for engaging the cooperating surface. An orienting structure may be provided for properly orienting the bracket body, which may be one or more notches defined in the bracket body for engaging one or more cooperating tabs associated with the vehicle trim piece.

A trim assembly includes a first trim portion spaced apart from an opposed second trim portion, a first surface on the first trim portion, a first magnet connected to the first trim portion so as to be hidden when the user views the first surface and a second surface on the first trim portion, a second magnet connected to the second trim portion so as to be hidden when the user views the second surface. When the working subassembly is configured to span between the first trim portion and the second trim portion, the working subassembly magnetically connectable through the first and second surfaces to the respective first and second magnets.

TRIM FOR A MOTOR VEHICLE

A trim made of plastics for a vehicle, in particular a motor vehicle, comprises a first component (7) made of plastics and a second component (8) made of plastics. To improve such trim, the first component (7) is at least partly transparent or semi-transparent. The second component (8) includes one or more recesses (10, 11, 12) for a display element and/or for an input element (FIG. 2).

A clip includes a clip main body. The clip main body has a pair of locking pawls which are deformable in a direction in which they approach each other. The pair of the locking pawls have internal side faces opposed to each other. A projection/recess is provided on at least part of the internal side face of the pair of the locking pawls. A projection portion of the projection/recess of the locking pawl on one side is opposed to a recess portion of the projection/recess of the locking pawl on the other side.

B-pillar trim strap for structural rigidity during CSA deployment

Side pillar assemblies may include trim straps for structural rigidity during deployment of side airbag apparatuses. During deployment, the airbag can deploy from behind the roof head lining, above one or more pillar garnishes of the side pillar assembly and into the occupant compartment. A rib along the back surface of the pillar garnish may be placed in tension during a deployment event and inhibit fragmentation of the pillar garnish and limit movement of the pillar garnish into the occupant compartment. The rib may include one or more strap portions that may be placed in compression in the event of an impact on the interior facing portions of the pillar garnish. The strap portions may buckle under the compression force and provide a level of cushioning or energy dissipation due to the impact.
