20170227781 · 2017-08-10 ·

A cloaking device includes cloaking region boundary planes oriented non-planar to each other, each of the cloaking region boundary planes having an outward facing mirror surface and an inward facing opaque surface. The cloaking device includes a cloaking region bounded at least partially by the inward facing opaque surfaces of the cloaking region boundary planes. Half mirrors are spaced apart and generally parallel to the outward facing mirror surfaces such that a half mirror is spaced apart and generally parallel to each outward facing mirror surface. Light from an object on an object-side of the cloaking device is directed around an article within the cloaking region and forms an image on an image-side of the cloaking device such the article appears transparent to an observer looking towards the object.

A vehicle includes a battery module and an exhaust duct to discharge air from the battery module. A first side member is provided along a first side trim to provide a space between the first side member and the first side trim in a vehicle width direction. The space is connected to the battery module via the exhaust duct. A rear seat is provided in a vehicle interior. A first exhaust port is connected to the exhaust duct via the space and provided in the vehicle interior below the rear seat in a vehicle height direction. A second exhaust port is connected to the exhaust duct via the space and provided in the vehicle interior behind the rear seat in a front-rear direction. The air is discharged from the exhaust duct through the first exhaust port and the second exhaust port via the space.

TETHER CLIP AND STRUCTURE FOR COUPLING THE TETHER CLIP TO A PILLAR GARNISH
20170253195 · 2017-09-07 · ·

A tether has a pair of guide plates. The pair of guide plates has two sides. A distance between points located on the two sides increases, as the points on the two sides approach a tip of the tether. The tether may have elastic branches. The pair of guide plates may have protrusions protruding toward an anchor. The tether may be made long by curving a tether intermediate portion. The tether may have a second guide plate and a third guide plate. When a pillar garnish is moved in a direction away from a pillar, the two sides of the guide plates are brought into contact with a rim portion of a tether housing portion defining the tether inserting aperture, thereby preventing the tether from rotating about a center axis line of the clip and the anchor to pass through the tether inserting aperture. When a bottom wall of the tether housing portion comes to a tether portion located between the guide plates and the anchor, the elastic branches and the protrusions prevent rotation of the tether. The second and third guide plates also prevent rotation of the tether.

OPEN-FRAME VEHICLE HAVING A TWO-PIECE TRIM MEMBER

A vehicle includes a frame. The vehicle is an open-frame vehicle. The frame includes an A-pillar, a B-pillar, and a roof siderail. The roof siderail extends between the A-pillar and the B-pillar. An A-pillar trim member is coupled to the A-pillar and includes a first portion and a second portion. The first portion defines an aperture that receives the second portion. A B-pillar trim member is coupled to the B-pillar. A roof siderail trim member is coupled to the roof siderail and extends between the A-pillar trim member and the B-pillar trim member. An inflatable member is positioned between the frame and at least two of the A-pillar trim member, the B-pillar trim member, and the roof siderail trim member when the inflatable member is in a deflated state. An inflated state of the inflatable member separates the second portion of the A-pillar trim member from the aperture of the A-pillar trim member.

OPEN FRAME VEHICLE SIDE OCCUPANT RESTRAINT SYSTEM

A roof rail assembly for a motor vehicle having an open frame vehicle architecture includes a side air curtain fixedly coupled with a sports tube via a first fastener oriented at a first angle relative a horizontal transverse plane of the sports tube. A roof rail trim cover is coupled with the sports tube via a second fastener oriented at a second angle, wherein the first angle and the second angle are not parallel. A cover member depends from the roof rail trim cover and includes a plurality of parallel hinges integrally molded into the cover member. A releasable opening is disposed parallel to the plurality of parallel hinges. Activation of the side air curtain rotates the cover member about the plurality of parallel hinges to open the releasable opening to allow passage of side air curtain through an opening.
