VEHICLE HOOD BUMPER
A hood bumper for a vehicle having a hood including: a housing having a wall, a base, an internal chamber, and an opening to the internal chamber. The wall having an interior surface and an exterior surface. the interior surface defines the internal chamber. The hood bumper further including a biasing mechanism operably connected to the housing and a plunger operably connected to the biasing mechanism and configured to receive an exerted force from the hood. The hood bumper further including a bumper head operably connected to the housing and a support frame operably connecting the bumper head to the housing. The plunger is configured to first move into the bumper head to absorb an impact force to the hood, next the bumper head compresses to further absorb the impact force, and then the support frame collapses to even further absorb the impact force.
ENERGY ABSORBER WITH FIXED ANGLED FINS
An energy absorbing system includes a carrier having a wall extending along a longitudinal axis. The energy absorber has a first leg and a second leg extending in a first direction away from the wall. A plurality of fins are fixed to and extend from the wall in the first direction, at approximately 60 to 65 degrees relative to the wall.
Energy absorber elements and vehicle systems
In some embodiments, an energy absorber element can comprise: a first support wall and a second support wall, a crush wall joining the first and second support walls together to define a deformable zone; a connection mechanism configured to connect the first and/or second support wall to a vehicle. In one embodiment, a method for using an energy absorber element in a vehicle can comprise: detachably connecting an energy absorber element to a vehicle at a support location for a vehicle component, once the energy absorber element has absorbed energy, detaching the energy absorber element from the vehicle; and separately replacing the energy absorber element from the vehicle component. In some embodiments, the vehicle component is not replaced.
VEHICLE BUMPER ASSEMBLY
A vehicle bumper assembly is provided having an energy absorber, a bracket, a step pad and a bumper fascia. The energy absorber includes an upper horizontal surface wherein the upper horizontal surface may define a deformable structure. The deformable structure may be in the form of flexible fins. The bracket may be mounted to the vehicle frame on a first end of the bracket and the energy absorber affixed to a second end of the bracket. The step pad may be affixed to the energy absorber. The bumper fascia may be affixed to either or both the step pad and the energy absorber.
Deformation Structure, in Particular for Pedestrian Protection for a Motor Vehicle
A deformation structure, which is an energy absorption structure, has a series of deformation elements arranged one behind the other in a deformation direction, i.e. the direction in which a load acts. Each two adjacent deformation elements are coupled together by a coupling mechanism, such that in a first load case, in particular a first collision load case, two adjacent deformation elements enter into a latching engagement with one another or are positioned in a latching engagement, such that a relative displacement of the adjacent deformation elements with respect to one another in the deformation direction is prevented, or at least made more difficult, and a deforming of the deformation structure occurs at a high level of force, and in a second load case, in particular a second collision load case, two adjacent deformation elements do not enter into the latching engagement or leave a latching engagement, such that a relative displacement of the adjacent deformation elements in the deformation direction is enabled, or at least made easier, and a deforming of the deformation structure occurs at a low level of force.
BUMPER-REINFORCING SYSTEM FOR MOTOR VEHICLE
A bumper-reinforcing system (1) intended for a motor vehicle includes: a bumper beam (2) with a single-piece elongated profile with a closed cross section and including a center zone (21) extending at least over part of the entire width of the bumper beam and an end zone (22) at each extremity of the bumper beam, two bumper fasteners (3) connected to the rear side of the bumper beam (2) at the intersection between the center zone (21) and the end zone (22) of the bumper beam (2), two reinforcing tubes (4) connected by their first end to the rear side of the end zone (22) of the bumper beam (2), extending from the bumper beam (2) so as to form an angle α below 45° with the vertical plane of symmetry of the bumper beam and suited to be connected by their other end on the front rail of the vehicle for which the bumper-reinforcing system (1) is provided, and two covers (5) with a single-piece elongated profile with an open cross section, in contact with the rear side of the end zone (22) of the bumper beam (2) and extending at least from the first end of one of the reinforcing tubes (4) to one of the bumper fasteners (3).
VEHICLE BUMPER ASSEMBLY
A bumper assembly includes a bumper beam, an extension, a crush can, and a bracket. The bumper beam extends longitudinally from a first end to a second end. The extension attaches to the first end of the bumper beam and has a segment parallel to the bumper beam and a leg extending transversely relative to the bumper beam. The crush can is attached to the segment. The bracket extends from the extension and is welded to the crush can.
IMPACT-ABSORBING STRUCTURE
A bumper structure of the present disclosure includes: a bumper face; a bumper beam; and an impact-absorbing member interposed to be compressively deformed between the exterior member and the movable-body-side rigid member. The movable-body-side rigid member, in an up-and-down direction of the movable-body-side rigid member, includes: a plurality of recesses recessed toward the movable body; and a protrusion protruding forward the movable body to be formed between the plurality of recesses. The plurality of recesses each have a vertical width gradually tapering toward the movable body, and the impact-absorbing member is fitted into at least two of the plurality of recesses.
BUMPER REINFORCEMENT
A bumper reinforcement includes a base portion that extends in a vehicle-width direction, and a protruding portion that is attached to at least one end of the base portion in an up-down direction, and that protrudes in a direction away from the base portion in the up-down direction. A crash box is disposed on a vehicle inner side of the base portion. The protruding portion has at least one of (A) a length in a vehicle front-rear direction that is longer than the length in the vehicle front-rear direction of the base portion, and (B) a plate thickness that is greater than the plate thickness of the base portion.
COMPOSITE CRUSH CAN
A method for making a crush can for a vehicle which has an internal moulded structure can include providing a crush can with a hole, filling the hole in the crush can with a fibre-reinforced material and compression moulding the fibre-reinforced material using the internal shape of the crush can as an outer shell of a split mould.
