A radar unit assembly for a vehicle includes a vehicle body structure and a grille assembly mounted to the vehicle body structure. A radar unit is connected to the grille assembly.

Front structure of vehicle

A grill bracket, a rear end portion of which is fixed to a shroud, is provided below a fascia upper member which is provided in front of a bonnet (engine hood). A front-side portion of the grill bracket is configured as an impact absorbing structure (a rib structure with ribs, for example) which extends forward along a back face of the fascia upper member. A front end portion of the impact absorbing structure is configured to be bent downward. Impact absorption for a relatively-small load which is applied from an upward side is attained by downward-bending deformation of the grill bracket (the front-side portion). Impact absorption for a relatively-large load which is applied from a forward side is attained by a bracing operation as well as downward-bending deformation of the front-side portion.

PEDESTRIAN PROTECTION APPARATUS

A pedestrian protection apparatus includes a collision prediction unit which predicts a collision of a vehicle with a pedestrian existing forward of the vehicle, a grille which is disposed on a front surface of the vehicle so as to be inclined while rising toward the rear and attached to the vehicle in a state where an upper end portion of the grille is forwardly advanceable, and an actuator mechanism which causes, when the collision prediction unit predicts the collision of the vehicle with the pedestrian, the grille to be moved in such a manner that the upper end portion of the grille is advanced forward by a forward advancing amount greater than that of a lower end portion of the grille.

GRILLE REINFORCEMENT

A front-end structure includes a front-end support and a grille fixed relative to the front-end support. Two brackets are disposed between the front-end support and the grille. The two brackets are spaced from each other along a cross-vehicle axis. Each of the two brackets has two legs. Each of the legs extends from the front-end support toward the grille. Two bars are spaced from each other and are spaced from the front-end support. The bars are elongated along the cross-vehicle axis from one of the brackets to the other of the brackets.

Active grille shutter vane for a vehicle

Aspects of the present invention relate to an active grille shutter vane for an active grille shutter assembly. The vane comprises: a leading edge and a trailing edge whereby, in use, the vane is configured such that airflow passes around the vane from the leading edge to the trailing edge when the active grille shutter assembly is in an open configuration; and a primary surface extending between the leading edge and the trailing edge. The leading edge, primary surface and trailing edge provide a continuous cambered attachment surface for the airflow passing over the primary surface to encourage attachment of the airflow to the vane.

AIR GUIDE FOR A VEHICLE FRONT STRUCTURE

An air guide for a vehicle front structure, the air guide is mountable on the vehicle front structure and is configured to redirect an incoming air flow towards a cooling device of the vehicle, the air guide including: a frame portion including a fixation portion having mounting elements for mechanical fixation to a vehicle structure when mounted for use, the frame portion is adapted to reinforce the air guide and define the general shape of the air guide, an air guide material, wherein the frame portion is over-molded with the air-guide material, wherein the stiffness of the frame portion is higher than the stiffness of the air guide material.

Bowed rotor nacelle cooling

The present disclosure describes ventilation systems having a reduced aerodynamic footprint. The vents in the ventilation systems are actuated with Shape Memory Alloys that actuate the vents on an as needed basis while effectively sealing the vents when not in operation. The present disclosure further describes a ventilation system in an aircraft nacelle that helps mitigate bowed rotors by cooling down the engine nacelle faster or by helping create a uniform temperature distribution in the nacelle. In various embodiments, the ventilation system comprises vents and fans embedded in the vents.

Bumper device for a vehicle

A bumper device for a motor vehicle has two bumper support members arranged parallel to the vehicle longitudinal center plane. The bumper device has a bumper crossmember arrangement arranged transversely with respect to the vehicle longitudinal center plane. The bumper crossmember arrangement has two fastening portions at which the bumper crossmember arrangement can be fastened to the associated bumper support member directly or by a respective connecting structure. A central portion between the fastening portions and two lateral end portions protrudes beyond the fastening portions. The central portion of the bumper crossmember arrangement is designed as a frame member surrounding an opening, with an upper crossmember, a lower crossmember, a left support post and a right support post.

Lower grille assembly preventing light leakage

A lower grille assembly preventing light leakage and fixedly connected to a bumper skin of a vehicle and comprising a lower grille body with a buckle mounting orifice and a lower grille trim with a buckle, wherein the lower grille trim is fixedly connected to the lower grille body by means of the buckle and the buckle mounting orifice; a buckle flange extending outward on the buckle of the lower grille trim, the buckle including a U-shaped groove for receiving an end of the skin and in a clearance fit with the end, so as to clamp and support the skin, effectively ensuring a Z-direction clearance between the trim and the skin, preventing the skin from falling due to its dead weight, and avoiding light leakage due to an increased Z-direction clearance between the skin and the lower grille assembly resulting from deformation of the lower grille assembly.
