Restraint device for reducing an abrupt sideward movement and/or forward movement of an occupant
The invention relates to a restraint device, in particular for a motor vehicle, for reducing an abrupt sideward movement of an occupant in the case of an impact with an airbag which is inflatable by means of a gas generator when an accident situation occurs. It is provided that the airbag has at least one side chamber and one shoulder chamber which are connected together, wherein in the inflated state of the airbag the side chamber and the shoulder chamber form different main extension planes which run at an angle to one another. An anchoring strap is fastened at one end to the shoulder chamber and at the other end to the vehicle seat. The shoulder chamber comprises two regions which transition into one another and which together form a reverse U-shape, the base thereof in the inflated state of the shoulder chamber forming the upper end thereof.
Frontal airbag systems
An inflatable airbag system can be configured to be mounted to a frontal region of a vehicle. The inflatable airbag system includes a housing configured to be mounted on a steering wheel of a vehicle and an inflator assembly at least partially disposed within the housing. The inflatable airbag system includes an airbag that receives inflation gas from the inflator assembly to expand and deploy out of the housing from a packaged configuration to a deployed configuration to provide occupant crash protection during a collision event, the airbag defining an inflatable chamber. A diffuser is disposed within the inflatable chamber and is in fluid communication with the inflator assembly. An occupant-facing panel of the diffuser comprises an aperture disposed in the center of the occupant-facing panel of the diffuser.
Gas-Fillable Support Means for a Motor Vehicle and Motor Vehicle Equipped Therewith
A support apparatus includes a gas-fillable support that is connectable to a gas generator. The gas-fillable support is securable to a body of a motor vehicle and has a first operating state which exists before the gas generator is activated and which has a first volume. The gas-fillable support has a second operating state which exists after the gas generator is activated and which has a second volume which is greater than the first volume. The gas-fillable support in the second operating state is contactable against a first portion which is operationally connected to the body and is contactable against a second portion which is operationally connected to the body and which is remote from the first end portion. A first mechanical strength of the gas-fillable support in the first operating state is less than a second mechanical strength of the gas-fillable support in the second operating state.
VEHICLE AIRBAG SYSTEM
Provided is an airbag system for a vehicle including an airbag cushion that is mounted on an upper end of a seatback and deployed forward to be located on both sides of the head of an occupant so as to limit upward movement of the occupant by restraining an upper body of the occupant in the event of a vehicle collision; an inflator that supplies gas to the airbag cushion in the event of the vehicle collision; and an external tether that has one end fixed to the airbag cushion and the other end fixed to the seatback.
Airbag apparatus with protrusion parts
An airbag apparatus with a cushion that expands and deploys from in front of a seat is provided. The cushion includes a front restraining part that restrains a head of a passenger from the front of a vehicle. The cushion further includes protrusion parts that are provided beside the front restraining part in the width direction of the vehicle and protrude and expand further towards the rear of the vehicle than the front restraining part. Inner tethers inside the cushion are connected to the front restraining part and to which tension is applied to pull the front restraining part towards the front of the vehicle. Outer tethers are connected to the protrusion parts and to which tension is applied to pull the protrusion parts towards the front of the vehicle. When tension is applied to the inner tethers, force towards the inner tethers is applied to the outer tethers.
Vehicle airbag device
A vehicle airbag device comprises an airbag body including a front-rear chamber configured to pass a side of the head of an occupant seated in a vehicle seat and to deploy toward a seat front side as a result of gas being ejected from an inflator actuated, so as to be disposed at the side of the head of the occupant, a leading end chamber is configured to deploy toward a seat width direction inner side from a seat front side end portion of the front-rear chamber so as to be disposed at the seat front side of the head of the occupant, and a shoulder-contact section is configured to contact, from the seat front side, a first shoulder of the occupant so as to restrain the first shoulder, the first shoulder being at an opposite side from a second shoulder of the occupant across which a shoulder belt is worn.
Airbag device
An airbag device includes: an airbag that is provided on a vehicle front side of a front passenger seat provided in a cabin, inflates as a result of a gas being supplied to the inside of the airbag, and deploys on the vehicle front side of an occupant seated in the front passenger seat; an airbag housing that is provided on the vehicle front side of the front passenger seat and in which is housed the airbag before inflating; and an airbag door that covers the airbag housing from the cabin side and becomes displaced toward the cabin side when the airbag inflates, whereby the airbag door opens the cabin side of the airbag housing. Movement of the airbag in the vehicle width direction after complete deployment is limited by at least part of the airbag door.
Occupant restraint system
A restraint system for helping to protect an occupant of a vehicle having a side structure and a cabin with a seat for the occupant includes an airbag having a stored condition outboard of the occupant. The airbag is inflatable to a deployed condition positioned between the occupant and the vehicle side structure. The airbag extends in a forward-rearward direction from a first end positioned in front of the occupant to a second end positioned behind the occupant such that a torso and head of the occupant are laterally aligned with the second end when the seat is placed in a reclined position.
Airbag device for driver's seat
An airbag device for a driver's seat is provided with a variant steering wheel, and an airbag module. The variant steering wheel has a module mounting surface and a cover member. When the cover member receives the expansion pressure of a cushion, a cover door opens. The airbag module includes a cloth member that is put on the cushion. A front end side of the cloth member is connected to an inflator, and a rear end is a free end. The airbag module is in a state in which the cushion is in a stored state, the cloth member is put over the cover member side of the cushion, and the cloth member is held between the cover member and the cushion in the stored state.
AIRBAG ARRANGEMENT
The invention relates to an airbag arrangement for a motor vehicle, with—an airbag (1), the airbag (1) having a first cushion layer (1.1) and a second cushion layer (1.2) opposite to the first cushion layer (1.1), and—at least one tether arrangement (2), the tether arrangement being connected to the airbag (1) and being connectable with one end to the motor vehicle outside the airbag (1).
