VEHICLE AIRBAG
A vehicle airbag includes a main panel to form a main chamber deployed toward an inner part of a vehicle, and a protrusion panel provided outside the main panel to form at least one protrusion chamber that communicates with the main chamber and protrudes toward the inner part of the vehicle based on the main chamber. The protrusion panel is folded to have a wrinkle part when the vehicle airbag is not inflated.
AIRBAG ASSEMBLY
An airbag assembly for a vehicle and a method for assembling an airbag assembly includes an airbag cushion defining an inflatable chamber. The airbag cushion includes a front side facing a passenger compartment of the vehicle and a rear side positioned opposite the front side to face away from the passenger compartment. The airbag cushion further includes lateral end portions flanking a central portion with at least one of the lateral end portions being an enlarged end portion that is enlarged relative to the central portion. The airbag assembly further includes at least one primary tether disposed within the inflatable chamber and at least one secondary tether or tether portion disposed within the inflatable chamber for establishing the enlarged portion. The at least one primary tether extends longitudinally between the lateral end portions of the airbag cushion with longitudinal sides thereof attached, respectively, to the front and rear sides of the airbag cushion in the central portion of the airbag cushion.
Wrap-around airbag device
An airbag device for a vehicle including at least one airbag housing interface chamber that attaches to an airbag housing; at least one airbag cushion chamber downstream of the at least one interface chamber; an elbow that fluidly connects the housing interface chamber with the cushion chamber and configured so that it controllably regulates gas flow into the at least one airbag cushion chamber; the elbow having an internal configuration, which includes at least one opening that permits back and forth gas flow between the elbow and the at least one airbag cushion chamber, and which controls the directional deployment of the airbag cushion chamber so that upon deployment the downstream end of the cushion chamber exits an airbag housing outwardly in a first direction and then in at least one second direction, so that the direction of deployment of the cushion chamber changes in direction to thereby wrap at least partially around a structure of a vehicle of the vehicle and at least temporarily interpose the cushion chamber between any occupant and the vehicle structure.
REAR SEAT AIRBAG MODULE
A rear vehicle seat airbag module configured to be mounted to a portion of a seat back of a front vehicle seat comprising an inflator and an inflatable cushion comprising a lower portion, an upper portion and an external tether connecting the lower portion and the upper portion. The inflator provides inflation gas to the inflatable cushion and the inflatable cushion is configured to deploy forward of an occupant seated in a rear seat of a vehicle by curving away from the occupant. The external tether is configured to control a trajectory of the deployment of the inflatable cushion by pulling the upper portion toward the lower portion to curve the inflatable cushion such that the upper portion is located above the lower portion.
Air bag cover with integrated steering panel
An air bag module includes an inflatable air bag, an inflator for inflating the air bag, a housing for supporting the air bag and inflator, and a cover for enclosing the air bag in the housing. The cover includes a fabric panel and a steering panel. The fabric panel has a main portion that at least partially envelops the air bag in a deflated and stowed condition and includes a tear seam that is rupturable upon inflation of the air bag to permit the air to deploy from the housing. The steering panel is for directing the air bag to deploy from the housing along a predetermined trajectory. The steering panel includes a panel of reinforcing material that overlies a portion of the fabric panel and is connected to the fabric panel. In a closed condition of the cover, the steering panel is fastened to the housing.
KNEE BOLSTER DEVICE FOR VEHICLE
A knee bolster device for a vehicle is intended to enhance passenger safety performance by minimizing injury to passengers when a collision occurs. The knee bolster device is capable of preventing injury to passengers striking a lower crash pad panel and penetrating into an inner space of the lower crash pad panel because the lower crash pad panel is reinforced by a composite material and an impact energy absorbing structure installed in the inner space of the lower crash pad panel.
Driver knee blocker energy absorption system
A tunable knee blocker energy absorption system for a vehicle having an instrument panel, a structural cross-car member, and an occupant protection device includes a left energy absorption (EA) bracket configured to couple to the structural cross-car member and including a left lower EA bracket, a left upper EA bracket, and a left EA bridge. A right EA bracket is configured to couple to the structural cross-car member and includes a right lower EA bracket and a right upper EA bracket. The left EA bracket and the right EA bracket are distinct from each other to manage a non-uniform load path of occupant femurs into the instrument panel and alter the kinematic response of the occupant back to a uniform presentation to the occupant protection device.
KNEE AIRBAG, KNEE AIRBAG MODULE AND STEERING ASSEMBLY
A knee airbag having a first wall extending from an upper end and having a first outer surface serving as an impact surface being positioned opposite the knee-shin-area of an occupant to be protected when the airbag is fully deployed, and a second wall extending from a rear end adjacent or identical to the upper end of the first wall and having a second outer surface. The second wall comprises a first section, a second section and a groove section being positioned between the first section and the second section such that the second outer surface shows a groove. In order to make the knee airbag suitable for a vehicle that does not provide sufficient instrument panel surface to support it, the first wall and the first and second sections of the second wall enclose an angle between 20° and 80°, preferably between 30° and 60°.
OCCUPANT'S LEG RESTRAINT DEVICE AND AIRBAG FOR OCCUPANT'S LEG RESTRAINT DEVICE
Provided is an occupant's leg restraint device suitable for restraining the legs of an occupant when an automobile has an oblique collision or an offset barrier collision. The occupant's leg restraint device has an airbag and an inflator for supplying gas to the lower part of the airbag to inflate the airbag, and the airbag has a first panel on the occupant side and a second panel on the side opposite thereto. An upper part of the inside of the airbag is divided into small chambers by vertical separating panels that are joined to the first panel and the second panel and that extend vertically. In a state where the airbag has inflated, recessed portions having a depth of 20 to 40 mm are formed in the occupant-side surface of the airbag along the vertical separating panels.
OCCUPANT PROTECTION DEVICE
An occupant protection device of the present embodiment includes a lower panel and an airbag device disposed on a front side of a lower end portion of the lower panel with a gap. The airbag device includes an airbag that is deployed and inflated so as to rise from a lower side of the lower end portion of the lower panel to the side of a back surface, as a design surface, of the lower panel to protect the knee of the occupant when inflation gas flows in, and a blocking member that rotates backward and blocks the gap when the airbag is inflated. A contact surface portion which is contact with the blocking member that rotates backward is formed on the lower end portion of the lower panel. The contact surface is formed on the lower side of a flange portion that extends forward from a bent portion.
