PASSENGER PROTECTION APPARATUS
A passenger protection apparatus allows a bag body of an airbag unit to inflate and expand in a stable manner when an impact is input. The passenger protection apparatus includes an airbag unit that is arranged below an article storage box and that causes a bag body to inflate and expand in a direction of a front seat when an impact is input. The passenger protection apparatus further includes a guide member that covers a gap between a lower end of the article storage box and an adjacent member adjacent to the lower end when bag body inflates and expands.
AIRBAG WITH INDIVIDUALLY TUNABLE COMPARTMENTS
An airbag includes a manifold having an outer panel and an inflation chamber defined at least in party by the outer panel. The airbag further includes a first compartment and a second compartment spaced from the first compartment connected to the outer panel and positioned external to the inflation chamber. A first one-way valve is in fluid communication with the manifold and the first compartment, and a second one-way valve is in fluid communication with the manifold and the second compartment.
AIRBAG APPARATUS
An airbag apparatus may include an airbag module mounted at a lower end portion of a crash pad; an airbag cushion configured to deploy from the airbag module to deploy in a space between a knee portion and a head portion of a passenger, wherein a tether is connected to the airbag cushion in a deployment direction of the airbag cushion toward at least one of the knee portion, a chest portion, and the head portion of the passenger to form an integrated deployment shape of the airbag cushion; and a release device connected to the tether close to the airbag module, and operated to allow the tether to be released or maintained in a fixed state in a deployment process of the airbag cushion depending on a body shape of the passenger on a seat of the vehicle.
IMPACT ABSORBING BODY
A shock absorber capable of suppressing load fluctuation after the start of plastic deformation. The shock absorber formed of a hollow molded body, including a load input surface; a fixed surface opposed to the load input surface; and a connection surface connecting the load input surface and the fixed surface. The connection surface includes at least one transverse groove rib, the at least one transverse groove rib includes at least two bending induction portions provided at positions where distances from the load input surface are different from each other, the at least two bending induction portions each being convex toward an outside of the shock absorber.
Knee airbag cover
A knee airbag cover for a vehicle includes a covering body configured to shield an airbag module from a passenger cabin. The covering body has an outer perimeter with an instrument panel facing side and a footwell facing side. The covering body also has an inner surface configured to face away from the passenger cabin and an outer surface configured to face toward the passenger cabin. The knee airbag cover further includes a footwell fastener. The footwell fastener is configured to attach a footwell so as to conceal the footwell fastener and an attachment of the covering body from the passenger cabin.
Adaptive airbag for protecting occupants in a vehicle
An apparatus for helping to protect an occupant of a vehicle includes an airbag configured to be mounted to a support structure of the vehicle. The airbag is inflatable to deploy from a stored condition away from the support structure toward a vehicle seat in which the occupant is seated to one of a first deployed condition in which the airbag is configured for a non-reclined condition of the vehicle seat, and a second deployed condition in which the airbag is configured for a reclined condition of the vehicle seat. The airbag is configured to deploy to the first deployed condition in response to determining a non-reclined condition of the vehicle seat and to the second deployed condition in response to determining a reclined condition of the vehicle seat.
Knee airbag device
A knee airbag device includes: an airbag case disposed at a lower face part of an instrument panel; a knee airbag accommodated within the airbag case in a folded state, the knee airbag inflating and deploying toward a vehicle rear side and a vehicle upper side upon being supplied with gas; and an airbag door part disposed at a vehicle lower side of the airbag case, the airbag door part having a substantially U-shaped rupture target part, the rupture target part is open toward a vehicle front side as seen in a plan view, at a portion, of a bottom wall part configuring a vehicle lower side face of the airbag door part, disposed rearward of an intermediate part of the airbag door part in a vehicle front-rear direction, and the portion of the bottom wall part disposed rearward of the intermediate part opening toward a vehicle lower side upon rupture of the rupture target part caused by inflation pressure of the knee airbag.
Airbag extending annularly around rotational axis of steering wheel
An assembly includes a steering wheel having a hub rotatable about a rotational axis and a rim spaced radially from the hub. The assembly includes a first airbag supported by the hub and inflatable from an uninflated position to an inflated position. The assembly includes a second airbag inflatable from an uninflated position to an inflated position. The second airbag extending annularly around the rotational axis. The first airbag and the second airbag being spaced from each other along the rotational axis when the first airbag and the second airbag are in the uninflated position. The rim being between the first airbag and the second airbag when the first airbag and the second airbag are in the inflated position.
Knee air bag and control method of deploying the same
A knee air bag reduces an injury to occupant's legs by employing a slim crash pad design. The air bag includes a first cushion that is deployed from an inner side of a crash pad toward an occupant to fill a space below the crash pad and a second cushion that is deployed between the first cushion and the occupant to support occupant's legs while being supported on the first cushion.
Knee airbag configuration
An airbag system for restraining a lower body of a vehicle occupant during a collision event and a method for deploying the same are disclosed. The airbag system includes a panel and a restraining airbag. The panel defines a support surface that is adapted to be deployed from a first configuration to a second configuration responsive to the collision event. In the first configuration, the panel forms part of an instrument panel of a vehicle and, in the second configuration, the panel is at least partially separated from the instrument panel of the vehicle. The restraining airbag is adapted to be deployed adjacent to the support surface of the panel between the support surface and the lower body of the vehicle occupant responsive to the collision event.
