An approximation-limiting region suppresses the cover as coupled with the case from moving further towards the base wall of the case, and a separation-limiting region suppresses the cover as coupled with the case from moving further away from the base wall of the case. The approximation-limiting region includes an abutment region and a receiving region engageable with the abutment region. The separation-limiting region includes a retaining hole and a projection engageable with an inner surface of the retaining hole.

An airbag module of the knee airbag includes an inflator and a cushion and contained in the housing unit of the lower crash pad to deploy the cushion toward a driver's knee outside the lower crash pad when the cushion is deployed by explosion of the inflator.

The holding section includes an elastically deformable support region which has been elastically deformed and brought into abutment against an outer circumference of the inflator when the inflator was inserted into the holding section, and supports the inflator in the elastically deformed state at an inner side of the holding section, and a supporting projection which has higher rigidity than the elastically deformable support region and abuts against the outer circumference of the inflator at the inner side of the holding section.

Also provided is a cover (20) forming a module covering and defining an outer side in the installed state of the knee airbag unit (10), which is connected to the airbag module (12). Furthermore, there is an edge-side means (26) securing the cover (20) against lowering, originating from the module holder (14).

A case for housing an inflator includes a protruding region for storing a connector of a wire harness which is connected to an inflator body. A body of the wire harness extends from the connector in a direction orthogonal to an axial direction of the inflator body. The protruding region protrudes from a circumferential wall of the case partially. The protruding region includes a stopper wall that is opposed to the connector as stored in the case in the axial direction of the inflator, and a pair of limiting walls that are engageable with the wire harness by the leading ends and thus limit an angle range with respect to the inflator body within which the wire harness is rotatable. The limiting walls each extend from the stopper wall and are disposed on both sides of the connector in the direction orthogonal to the axial direction of the inflator.

A panel separates the inboard chamber and the outboard chamber. A diffuser is in fluid communication with both the inboard chamber and the outboard chamber. A releasable vent is between the diffuser and one of the inboard chamber and the outboard chamber. An inflator is in fluid communication with the diffuser.
