SEAT ASSEMBLY WITH AIR BAG
20170144622 · 2017-05-25 ·

A seat assembly for a motor vehicle includes: a supporting structure, designed to be mounted on the floor panel of the motor vehicle; a seat, which is mounted on the supporting structure and includes a sitting portion and a backrest portion; and an airbag unit, including at least one airbag, which is folded into a housing provided in the seat assembly and is inflatable into an expanded condition outside the housing, whereby the at least one airbag has a conformation such that, in the expanded condition, the at least one airbag identifies a protection wall that surrounds the backrest portion of the seat.

SIDE AIRBAG FOR VEHICLES

A side airbag for protection for vehicle occupants includes an interior wall separating the airbag into upstream and downstream chambers and defining an opening between two chambers adjacent a lower end of the airbag. A flow deflector between the opening and an exterior vent combines with the wall to define a channel therebetween. The channel directs inflation gasses exiting the opening into an upper end of the airbag, after which the gasses must flow around an upper end of the deflector (adjacent an outlet end of the channel) before reaching the exterior vent. The resulting S-shaped flow path serves to maintain the airbag in the inflated state for a longer time and urges an outboard arm of an occupant in a forward an upward direction to reduce the likelihood that that arm may be trapped between the inflating airbag and the occupant's thorax.

H-point referenced seat cushion airbag system

A seat cushion airbag system includes an inflatable airbag with a boundary that bounds an inflatable area, the boundary positioned with respect to an H-point of an occupant.

Seat belt device

A seatbelt device comprises a webbing, a bag body and an anchor member. The webbing is applied to the body of a vehicle occupant sitting on a seat. The bag body is provided along a length direction of the webbing, and the bag body is disposed at one side of the webbing and can be inflated by pressure of a fluid supplied from a length direction one side of the bag body. A deployment portion through which the fluid can pass is provided in the bag body, being disposed at width direction outer sides and a thickness direction another side of the webbing. An insertion hole is formed in the anchor member, through which the webbing and the bag body are inserted. The webbing is folded at the thickness direction one side when applied to the body of the sitting vehicle occupant, and the deployment portion of the bag body is disposed in the insertion hole.

PASSENGER PROTECTING DEVICE FOR VEHICLE

A passenger protecting device 10 for a vehicle has: a side airbag portion 20 that is accommodated at an interior of a side support portion 14B, and that, by receiving a supply of gas and inflating at a time of an oblique side collision of a vehicle, causes the side support portion 14B to bulge-out toward the seat upper side; and a seat cushion airbag portion 22 that is accommodated at an interior of the seat portion 14A, and that, by receiving a supply of gas and inflating at a time of an oblique side collision of the vehicle, causes the seat portion 14A to bulge-out toward the seat upper side and raises the femoral region D of the passenger P, and whose inflation is completed later than the side airbag portion 20.

FRONT AIRBAG

A vehicle door structure includes inner and outer door panels, a door handle assembly and an impact pad. The inner door panel has an access opening that extends from an inboard surface to an outboard surface. The door handle assembly has a base portion overlaying an inboard surface of the outer door panel within a door cavity and a lever portion extending along an outboard surface of the outer door panel. The impact pad has a block portion and a projecting portion that extends from the block portion. The block portion overlays and contacts a portion of the outboard surface of the inner door panel adjacent to the access opening. The block portion is in vertical alignment with a portion of the base portion of the door handle. The projecting portion spans a horizontally measured width of the access opening.

Side airbag systems and vehicles with side airbag systems

A bench seating and side airbag system is provided. The system comprises a back portion and a side portion. The back portion has an interior facing interior facing surface and an exterior facing surface opposite the interior facing surface. The side portion and the back portion are positioned to define a seam between the back portion and the side portion. A chamber is configured to be mounted proximate the seam and behind the exterior facing surface of the back portion. An inflator is coupled to the chamber and configured to inflate the chamber. When inflated, the chamber extends through the seam and beyond the interior facing surface of back portion along the side portion.
