Airbag tether release

An airbag system includes an airbag. The airbag system includes a base defining a track extending from a first end to a second end. The airbag system includes a carrier releasably fixed to the base and removable from the base at the second end. The airbag system includes a tether extending from the carrier and secured to the airbag. The airbag system includes a spring disposed at the first end. The spring is disposed between the carrier and the base. Upon application of a force to the carrier, e.g., via the tether when the airbag is inflated, the carrier is released from the base and compresses the spring. Upon removal of the force, the spring urges the carrier toward the second end where the carrier is ejected.

AIRBAG FOR A VEHICLE OCCUPANT RESTRAINT SYSTEM OF A MOTOR VEHICLE

It is provided a gas bag for a vehicle occupant restraint system of a motor vehicle, comprising at least one first inflatable chamber configured for the protection of the head of a vehicle occupant; at least one second inflatable chamber configured for the protection of a shoulder and/or thorax region of the vehicle occupant, wherein the gas bag is to be arranged in or on a side of a vehicle seat facing the vehicle interior space. The first and the second chamber are rotatable relative to each other in the inflated condition of the gas bag.

An airbag that prevents heavy interference with the head of an occupant during expansion and deployment even when the occupant is not seated in a vehicle seat in a regular position is configured to be positioned to the sides of the center in the left-right direction of a vehicle seat and has a pair of chambers physically coupled by a coupling section that deploy forward of the occupant when expansion and deployment are complete. The pair of chambers are independent during expansion and deployment and expand and deploy frontward from both the left and right sides of the vehicle seat, having side protecting chambers that cover at least the side sections of the occupant. The side protecting chambers are coupled by coupling sections positioned to the sides of the center in the left-right direction of the vehicle seat, and the coupling section is thinner than the side protecting chambers at least during initial expansion and deployment.

Multi-cushion airbag assemblies for reducing rotational velocity of an occupant's head

Airbag assemblies can reduce rotational velocity of an occupant's head during a collision event. Some airbag assemblies include a first airbag cushion that is disposed forward of an occupant and a second airbag cushion that is disposed generally lateral to the occupant. When the occupant moves in an oblique direction during a collision event, the second airbag cushion may contact the head of the occupant and reduce its rotational velocity.

VEHICLE SIDE AIRBAG DEVICE

A vehicle side airbag device including an airbag accommodated within a seatback of a vehicle seat, and inflates and expands between a seated vehicle occupant and a side door, the airbag includes: a main body portion configured to restrain at least from a shoulder portion to a chest region of the seated vehicle occupant; and an extension portion configured to extend toward a vehicle front side or a vehicle rear side at a portion of a height region of the main body portion, and wherein, as seen in a vehicle side view, at a vehicle occupant shoulder portion height region, the extension portion overlaps a vehicle side portion member that structures a portion of a vehicle cabin side wall and that projects-out further toward a vehicle inner side than a side door glass.

Frontal airbag assemblies

Inflatable frontal restraint air cushions, or frontal curtain airbags, are disclosed herein. An occupant impact zone is formed by an opening at an inner area of the frontal restraint air cushion extending from a rearward surface to a forward surface, the opening defining a free end of the occupant impact zone and a fixed end of the occupant impact zone such that the free end is pivotable relative to the fixed end. The occupant impact zone is to deflect forward with impact of the head of the vehicle occupant.

CURTAIN AIRBAG SYSTEM OF VEHICLE

A curtain airbag system of a vehicle is configured such that a position of an auxiliary chamber provided in a curtain airbag is changed to correspond to an occupant's seating posture or the occupant's lying posture in response to a vehicle collision, so that the occupant is safely protected in various seating postures.

Overhead airbag assemblies

Airbag assemblies including a housing assembly to be mounted above a vehicle occupant position, an inflator, and an inflatable cushion are provided. The inflatable cushion can include first and second lateral chambers and a frontal chamber disposed between the first and second lateral chambers. Airbag assemblies including a first inflatable cushion that is configured to deploy at a first lateral side and forward of a vehicle occupant position and a second inflatable cushion that is configured to deploy at a second lateral side and forward of the vehicle occupant position are also provided.

Aircraft seat device having an air bag element

An airplane seat device includes at least one airplane seat, and at least one console arranged, viewed in a flight direction, in front of the airplane seat, and at least one airbag element which is configured to protect in a crash event a passenger sitting in the airplane seat from crashing onto the console. At least one airbag element features, in a fully deployed state, at least in a head-impact zone, a thickness which is smaller than a thickness in at least one shoulder-impact zone.

SIDE AIRBAG DEVICE FOR A VEHICLE

A side airbag device for a vehicle includes a lower chamber and an upper chamber to protect a passenger from a side impact in the event of a vehicle collision. The upper chamber is bent towards the passenger by a connecting tether to support a passenger's neck region and prevent the neck from being twisted. The restraint belt forms an inserting space in front of a passenger when the upper chamber is bent so that a passenger's shoulder region is inserted into the inserting space when the passenger is moved forwards by collision inertia. The passenger's shoulder region is surrounded and supported by the restraint belt so that the passenger's body is restrained by a seat. A passenger is protected from impact and simultaneously the passenger is restrained by the seat to minimize an injury.
