OVERHEAD AIRBAG ASSEMBLIES
Airbag assemblies including a housing assembly to be mounted above a vehicle occupant position, an inflator, and an inflatable cushion are provided. The inflatable cushion can include first and second lateral chambers and a frontal chamber disposed between the first and second lateral chambers. Airbag assemblies including a first inflatable cushion that is configured to deploy at a first lateral side and forward of a vehicle occupant position and a second inflatable cushion that is configured to deploy at a second lateral side and forward of the vehicle occupant position are also provided.
SEAT SUPPORTED AIRBAG
A seating assembly for use in a vehicle includes a seat back and an airbag. The seat back has a bottom, a top, and a midpoint between the bottom and the top. The airbag is supported by the seat back and is inflatable to an inflated position. In the inflated position the airbag may extend from the top to a location between the midpoint and the bottom and define a cavity with an opening facing the bottom and away from the seat back.
Seat assembly with air bag
A seat assembly for a motor vehicle includes: a supporting structure, designed to be mounted on the floor panel of the motor vehicle; a seat, which is mounted on the supporting structure and includes a sitting portion and a backrest portion; and an airbag unit, including at least one airbag, which is folded into a housing provided in the seat assembly and is inflatable into an expanded condition outside the housing, whereby the at least one airbag has a conformation such that, in the expanded condition, the at least one airbag identifies a protection wall that surrounds the backrest portion of the seat.
VEHICLE OCCUPANT PROTECTION APPARATUS
A vehicle occupant protection apparatus includes a seat for an occupant of a vehicle and an airbag device. The airbag device includes a front airbag configured to deploy in front of an upper body of the occupant in the seat. The front airbag is capable of deploying so as to receive the upper body that has been displaced forward from a seating position on the seat. The front airbag includes a pair of shoulder-receiving projections capable of receiving both shoulders of the upper body that has been displaced forward from the seating position by projecting rearward at both sides of the front airbag in a vehicle width direction of the vehicle in a deployed state.
MULTI-CUSHION AIRBAG ASSEMBLIES FOR REDUCING ROTATIONAL VELOCITY OF AN OCCUPANT'S HEAD
Airbag assemblies can reduce rotational velocity of an occupant's head during a collision event. Some airbag assemblies include a first airbag cushion that is disposed forward of an occupant and a second airbag cushion that is disposed generally lateral to the occupant. When the occupant moves in an oblique direction during a collision event, the second airbag cushion may contact the head of the occupant and reduce its rotational velocity.
Vehicular Seat Installed With Side Airbag Device
In a vehicular seat installed with a side airbag device, an inside bag completes inflation and deployment earlier than a side air bag body, on the inner side of the side airbag body in the vehicle width direction, and presses an occupant inward in the vehicle width direction. The inside bag inflates and deploys at an upper level than the abdominal region of the occupant. Further, reaction force is applied inward in the vehicle width direction from a reaction force plate supported by an outer side frame, to the inside bag. The reaction force plate extends in a vehicle front-back direction, and extends toward the front of the vehicle beyond a front edge portion of the outer side frame.
AIRBAG APPARATUS
An airbag apparatus capable of protecting an occupant by restraining movement of the occupant in an obliquely forward direction and towards a far side during a collision. A far side airbag apparatus (102), which is an airbag apparatus, deploys between a driver seat (106) and a front passenger seat (108) arranged side by side in a vehicle width direction of a vehicle cabin (100). The apparatus (102) includes a cushion (120) which is embedded in a floor of the vehicle cabin (100) and reaches a height at least equal to that of a pelvis region (160) of an occupant (156) seated in either one of the driver seat (106) and the front passenger seat (108) during inflation and deployment.
VEHICULAR OCCUPANT RESTRAINING DEVICE
A vehicular occupant restraining device, that includes: an inside air bag arranged on an inner side, in a vehicle width direction, of a side frame in a side section, the inside air bag receiving a gas supply from a second inflator, the inside air bag deploying by inflation in the side section earlier and at a higher pressure than a side air bag, and the inside air bag pressing a seated occupant to an inner side in the vehicle width direction. The inside air bag is configured so as to deploy by inflation in a region more to a vehicle upper side than a second-from-bottom rib of six ribs provided in a torso of an AM50 type international standard side collision dummy, in a state in which the dummy is seated in the vehicular seat.
VEHICLE AND AIRBAG DEVICE
A vehicle and an airbag device provide protection to an occupant even in a case where an oblique collision load is input from the front. The vehicle includes a vehicle seat, a door which is arranged adjacently to the vehicle seat on a vehicle-width-direction outer side, and an airbag device including an airbag which expands and is deployed between the occupant seated in the vehicle seat and the door when a front oblique collision load is input. The airbag includes an abdomen expansion portion which expands and is deployed to surround a region from a vehicle-width-direction outer side portion to part of a front-side portion of an abdomen of the occupant when an oblique left front collision load is input.
Side airbag device
A side airbag device having a plurality of chambers. The side airbag 100 includes: an inflator 110; a rear chamber 114 which deploys at a side part 108 of a seat back 106 and a middle restraining part 122 that protrudes toward the front of a vehicle and a main part 120 at a rear side. A sectioning wall 124 which constitutes a front edge and an upper edge of the rear chamber 114. A front chamber 116 inflates into areas toward the front of the vehicle and the upper part of the vehicle from the sectioning wall 124. An upper opening 126 is formed on the sectioning wall 124 in a rear part of the upper edge of the rear chamber 114. A lower opening 128 is formed on the sectioning wall 124 in a lower part of the front edge of the rear chamber 114.
