AIRBAG DEVICE FOR FRONT PASSENGER SEAT
An airbag device for a front passenger seat includes a front passenger seat airbag main body, a center airbag portion, an actuator and a control section. The actuator is configured to switch a strap between a first state and a second state. In the first state, the center airbag portion is retained in a folded state. In the second state, the other end portion of the strap is released and the center airbag portion is allowed to inflate and expand. The control section sets the actuator to the first state when there is a full overlap frontal collision, and sets the actuator to the second state when there is a collision that is any of an oblique collision against a driver seat side of a vehicle front portion or a small overlap collision.
Method for open airway position after a vehicle crash
A computer-implemented method for moving an occupant of a vehicle seat to open airway position after a vehicle crash event. The vehicle seat having a seat cushion, a backrest and a headrest. The method includes detecting occurrence of a vehicle crash event, and moving at least a portion of the backrest and/or headrest backwards and pulling an occupant of the vehicle seat backwards towards the backrest by powered retraction of a seat belt of the occupant by means of a seat belt retractor.
Responder assistance for vehicular events
A vehicle includes one or more sensors and engages at least one of the one or more sensors to evaluate at least one of a count or location of vehicle occupants prior to an incident. The vehicle determines that an incident has occurred and that at least one of an evaluated count or location of at least one vehicle occupant has changed following the incident. Also, the vehicle engages at least one of the one or more sensors to detect a presence of a prior occupant outside the vehicle following the incident, responsive to determining that the at least one of the evaluated count or location of the at least one vehicle occupant changed and, responsive to detecting the presence of the prior occupant outside the vehicle following the incident, reports the presence to a 3.sup.rd party response entity.
Occupant protection systems that adjust occupant seat positions for safety and comfort
A vehicle occupant protection system may comprise a vehicle seat adjustment control system. The control system may be configured to receive from a vehicle sensor a signal associated with an occupant sitting on a vehicle seat. Based upon the received signal, the control system may be configured to determine a feature associated with a body of the occupant sitting on the vehicle seat is located outside a zone of safe impact with an airbag in a deployed state, and cause a vehicle seat adjustment mechanism to adjust a position of the vehicle seat so that the feature associated with the body of the occupant sitting on the vehicle seat is located within the zone of safe impact with the airbag in the deployed state.
Systems and methods for predicting occupant location based on vehicular collision
A computer-implemented method is provided for predicting occupant location based on vehicular collision. The method includes receiving, at a computing system including one or more processors, information indicative of a vehicle crash involving a vehicle occupant. The method also includes receiving, at the computing system, information indicative of a position of the vehicle occupant within the vehicle prior to the vehicle crash. The method also includes determining, by the one or more processors, a probability of ejection of the vehicle occupant according to (i) the information indicative of the vehicle crash and (ii) the position of vehicle occupant. The method also includes providing, by the computing system, the probability of ejection of the vehicle occupant to one or more emergency responders.
Systems and methods for reconstruction of a vehicular crash
A system for detecting a vehicular collision (i) receives occupant data from at least one internal sensor; (ii) receives external data from at least one external sensor; (iii) determines positional information for at least one occupant of a vehicle; and (iv) generates a virtual reconstruction of the vehicle collision. The virtual reconstruction indicates a severity of vehicle damage and a severity of injury to the at least one occupant caused by the vehicle collision. The system may also utilized vehicle occupant positional data, and internal and external sensor data to detect potential imminent vehicle collisions, take corrective actions, automatically engage autonomous or semi-autonomous vehicle systems, and/or perform at least one action to reduce a severity of a potential injury.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR PREDICTING OCCUPANT LOCATION BASED ON VEHICULAR COLLISION
Systems and methods may predict location of a vehicle occupant in the event of a collision involving the vehicle and another entity. Information indicative of a posture of the occupant prior to the collision may be obtained based on information from one or more image sensors of the vehicle. Systems and methods determine whether one or more conditions corresponding to an increased likelihood of ejection of the occupant are present, based on the posture. The systems and methods further may automatically generate and provide a visual notification to a device of a responder, the visual notification indicating that the increased likelihood of ejection of the occupant is present, as well as a location of the occupant.
