20170355341 · 2017-12-14 ·

Airbag cushion assemblies for anchoring an airbag cushion in a desired position during deployment. Some embodiments may be configured for use in connection with eccentric steering wheels, such as steering wheels lacking an upper rim portion. Some embodiments may comprise an airbag housing coupled with the steering wheel, an airbag cushion positioned in the airbag housing, and means for anchoring a portion of the airbag cushion to assist in preventing the airbag cushion from being pushed in a direction opposite to the missing steering wheel structural element relative to the steering wheel during deployment of the airbag cushion.

Side airbag energy management system

A vehicle seating assembly that includes a vehicle seating assembly that includes a seatback having a passenger support attached to a trim carrier with a suspension assembly connecting a support structure. The support structure includes a first trim piece, a seat frame, and a rear panel portion. The rear panel portion includes one or more upper inverted hooks, an energy transfer bracket, and one or more lower 2-stage attachment clips. An airbag deployment system is positioned proximate the first trim piece and a second trim piece and configured to deploy an airbag between the first and second trim pieces. The deployment energy is dissipated through the one or more upper inverted hooks, the energy transfer bracket, and the one or more lower 2-stage attachment clips of the rear panel portion.

Airbag assembly

An instrument-panel assembly includes an instrument panel, an airbag housing supported by the instrument panel, an airbag supported by the airbag housing, and a rotatable connection rotatably supporting the airbag housing on the instrument panel. The instrument panel extends along a longitudinal axis. The rotatable connection is rotatable about a rotational axis transverse to the longitudinal axis.

Monument mounted airbag

A monument mounted airbag system includes an airbag assembly including at least an airbag mounted directly forward of a passenger, and configured to deploy away from the passenger along an intercepting course with a predetermined path of travel of the passenger. Additionally, the airbag may be configured to substantially conform to a monument disposed in proximity thereto, and may include side support, lower support, and active vents.

Telescoping panel with reaction surface

A restraint system includes a restraint configured to deploy from an interior surface and restrain motion of an occupant and a support including a door coupled to an upper portion of the restraint. The door is configured to rotate about a pivot. The door includes a telescoping panel configured to telescopically extend from a stowed position behind the interior surface to a deployed position spaced apart from the interior surface in unison with deployment of the restraint so that the anchor reaches the deployed position after the door rotates about the pivot. The support is configured to orient the upper portion of the restraint in respect to motion of the occupant.

Airbag module to protect display device of vehicle

An airbag module to protect a display device of a vehicle is proposed. The airbag module includes: the display device vertically slidably mounted to a cockpit of the vehicle; and an airbag housing arranged at the rear of the display device, rotatably mounted to the cockpit on a shaft extended in a direction parallel to a transverse direction of the vehicle, and configured to be rotated in response to sliding of the display device.

Pillar-supported airbag for extending vehicle seat

An assembly for a vehicle includes a vehicle floor and a vehicle roof spaced from the vehicle floor. A pillar extends from the vehicle floor to the vehicle roof. The assembly includes an airbag supported by the pillar. The airbag is inflatable from the pillar from an uninflated position to an inflated position. The assembly includes a seat supported by the vehicle floor adjacent the pillar. The airbag extends around the seat when in the inflated position.

Side airbag with adaptive positioning for reclining seat

The present disclosure relates to an assembly that has a seat, which can move between an upright position and a reclined position. The assembly also includes a track that is coupled to a side of the seat and a rail operably coupled to the rail. The assembly further includes an airbag inflator module that is mounted on the rail, such that the airbag inflator module slides along the rail when the seat moves between the upright position and the reclined position.

STRUCTURE FOR DEPLOYING SEAT SIDE AIRBAG

A structure for deploying a side airbag installed in a seat of a vehicle is provided. The structure includes an interior pad is disposed adjacent to a first side of a side airbag and an exterior portion surrounded by an interior covering. An exterior pad is disposed adjacent to a second side of the side airbag and has an exterior portion surrounded by an exterior covering. An interior reinforcing fabric penetrates a pad aperture portion formed between the interior pad and the exterior pad and surrounds a first side of the side airbag. An exterior reinforcing fabric is integrally coupled to the exterior covering and surrounds the exterior portion of the exterior pad. The interior reinforcing fabric is spaced apart from the interior covering and disposed in a path different from a path of the interior covering. The collision performance is easily adjusted and production costs and weights are reduced.
