AIRBAG INFLATABLE ACROSS OPENING IN VEHICLE BODY
An assembly for a vehicle includes a vehicle body having an opening. The assembly includes a track supported by the vehicle body. The track extends along the opening. The assembly includes an airbag supported by the vehicle body. The airbag is slidably engaged with the track. The airbag is inflatable across the opening and along the track to an inflated position. The assembly includes a pyrotechnic device supported by the vehicle body and connected to the airbag. The airbag is slidable along the track by the pyrotechnic device to the inflated position.
Airbag inflation restraint with releasable extension
An assembly for a vehicle includes an airbag inflatable to an inflated position. The airbag includes a first panel, a second panel, and an inflation chamber between the first panel and the second panel. The assembly includes an inflation restraint exterior to the inflation chamber. The inflation restraint includes a first end fixed to the first panel and a second end fixed to the second panel. The inflation restraint includes a releasable extension between the first end and the second end. The releasable extension is movable from an unreleased position to a released position as the airbag inflates to the inflated position.
OCCUPANT RESTRAINING DEVICE
A vehicle occupant restraining device, comprising: a pair of air bags; an inner bag housed in at least one of the pair of air bags, is in communication with the at least one of the air bags, and is inflated and deployed inside the at least one of the air bags, on the sides of the body of a vehicle occu-pant; and a pair of pieces of tension cloth housed so as to extend along the respective sides of a housed pair of air bags, which are located on the opposite sides of the vehicle occupant, and then through the inside of the seat back of a seat into a seat cushion, wherein the inner bag completes inflation and deployment before the at least one of the air bags does, and the pair of pieces of tension cloth is deployed on the sides of the seat.
VEHICLE OCCUPANT RESTRAINING DEVICE
A vehicle occupant re-straining device, comprising, an air bag inflated and deployed on both sides of a vehicle occupant; tension cloth housed so as to extend from the inside of the seat back of a seat into a seat cushion; an angle detection means for detecting the reclining angle of the seat back; and an inner pressure control means for controlling, depending on the reclining angle, pressure in the air bag at the time of inflation and deployment thereof, wherein the tension cloth is deployed on the sides of the seat when the surface material of the seat is broken open by the inflation and deployment of the air bag, thereby holding the surfaces of the air bag, which are located on the opposite sides of the vehicle occupant, and wherein the inner pressure control means reduces pressure in the air bag.
AIRBAG APPARATUS
An airbag apparatus is configured to be used for a vehicle seat including an accommodation portion. The airbag apparatus includes an airbag. The airbag is configured such that a portion of the airbag ejected from the accommodation portion to the position beside the headrest is deployed and inflated in a position rearward of the seat back, and is inflated and deployed away from the accommodation portion in the width direction in a position rearward of the headrest, and that another portion of the airbag ejected from the accommodation portion to the position beside the headrest is deployed and inflated in a position forward of the seat back, and is deployed and inflated in a position forward of a head of an occupant seated in the vehicle seat and away from the accommodation portion in the width direction, so as to wrap around the head.
Occupant protection system including expandable curtain and/or expandable bladder
An occupant protection system for a vehicle may include an expandable curtain and/or an expandable bladder configured to be expanded from a stowed state to a deployed state. In the deployed state, the expandable curtain may include first and second sides configured to extend along respective portions of first and second interior sides of the vehicle. The expandable curtain may also include a transverse portion extending between the first and second sides, and the first and second sides, and the transverse portion of the expandable curtain may form a contiguous barrier. The expandable bladder when deployed may be supported by the expandable curtain during contact by an occupant. The occupant protection system may also include a deployment control system configured to cause the expandable curtain and/or the expandable bladder to expand to the deployed state. The occupant protection system may be used in vehicles having a carriage-style seating arrangement.
Roof airbag apparatus
A roof airbag apparatus may include: a cushion configured to cover a roof when deployed; a pair of guides having a length in the deployment direction of the cushion, and configured to guide both sides of the cushion in the deployment direction; and a deployment resistance reducer having a connector connected to one end of each of the guides so as to apply an elastic force from a first location toward the rear, wherein the connector is moved to a second location in a front of the first location by frictional resistance which is applied to the guide when the cushion is deployed.
Airbag system for a vehicle and method for manufacturing the airbag system
A safety device for a vehicle adapted to be arranged facing an airbag, the safety device including: a channel suitable for guiding the airbag, the channel delimiting a central opening for deployment of the airbag, a panel at least partially covering the central opening when the airbag is in an uninflated state, and a net having a first plane-portion being entrapped in the channel and a second plane-portion being entrapped in the panel. The net further includes a third portion extending between the first plane-portion and the second plane-portion, at least a part of the third-portion being entrapped in a receiving portion of the channel, wherein the receiving portion includes at least a portion of reduced thickness.
Vehicle Seat
In a vehicle seat comprising a seat cushion and a seatback, the seatback comprises a seatback frame including a right and a left side member extending vertically, a side airbag unit attached to one of the side members, a flexible seatback pad provided with a pad side slit to permit an airbag to be deployed opposite to the side airbag unit, a skin member having a skin side slit in a part thereof corresponding to the pad side slit, and a retaining sheet connected to a part of a back side of the seatback pad opposing the side member, and to the side member so as to fixedly secure a position of the seatback pad relative to the side member.
SIDE AIRBAG APPARATUS
A side airbag apparatus is employed in a vehicle seat that includes a seat back (14) and a seat belt guide (23). The seat back (14) includes an accommodation portion in a lateral portion on the outer side. The seat belt guide (23) is attached to the lateral portion at a location above the accommodation portion. The side airbag apparatus includes a gas generator (30), an airbag (35), and a pressure receiving member (40). The gas generator (30) and the airbag (35) are installed in the accommodation portion. The pressure receiving member (40) is arranged rearward of the airbag (35) in the accommodation portion, and includes a main body (41) and an upper restricting portion (43). The main body (41) includes a pressure receiving surface, which extends along an axis (L1) of the gas generator (30). The main body (41) receives the pressure of inflation gas in the airbag (35) on the pressure receiving surface and produces reaction force in a forward direction, which is perpendicular to the pressure receiving surface. The upper restricting portion (43) is located above and adjacent to the main body (41) and includes an upper restricting surface located forward of an imaginary upward extension of the pressure receiving surface. The upper restricting portion (43) restricts upward deployment and inflation of the airbag (35) using the upper restricting surface.
