A vehicle safety system for helping to protect an occupant of a vehicle seat includes a seatbelt extensible around the occupant to help restrain the occupant in the vehicle seat. The seatbelt includes a lap belt configured to extend across the occupant at the hips. An airbag is secured to the lap belt and configured to inflate and deploy upward from the lap belt to a deployed position in front of the occupant. The system is configured to adjust the deployed position of the airbag in response to the position of the occupant.

An occupant protection system for protecting a vehicle occupant sitting in a seat includes a seatbelt that includes a lap belt for arresting the pelvis of the occupant, and an airbag disposed in the lap belt. The airbag is coupled to the lap belt in such a manner as to be movable relative to the lap belt in a left and right direction, and includes a main inflatable portion that is deployable in front of upper body of the occupant, and a positioning inflatable portion that protrudes from a lower end region of the main inflatable portion. The positioning inflatable portion includes a contact surface that contacts and is supported by an environmental member which is disposed in a circumference of the lap belt at airbag deployment, whereby helps align a center in the left and right direction of the main inflatable portion generally with that of the upper body.

An occupant protection system for protecting a vehicle occupant sitting in a seat includes a seatbelt that includes a lap belt for arresting the pelvis of the occupant, and an airbag disposed in the lap belt. The airbag is coupled to the lap belt in such a manner as to be movable relative to the lap belt in a left and right direction, and includes a main inflatable portion that is deployable in front of upper body of the occupant, and a positioning inflatable portion that protrudes from a lower end region of the main inflatable portion. The positioning inflatable portion includes a contact surface that contacts and is supported by an environmental member which is disposed in a circumference of the lap belt at airbag deployment, whereby helps align a center in the left and right direction of the main inflatable portion generally with that of the upper body.

An occupant protection device, protecting an occupant seated in a seat, includes: a seat belt; and an airbag which is arranged in an area of a lap belt in the seat belt. The airbag includes a bag body and a regulatory tether. A thigh abutment surface abutting on a thigh of the occupant is arranged on a lower surface side of the bag body, and an upper body restraining surface restraining an upper body of the occupant is arranged on a rear surface side. The regulatory tether connects a base end to a rear surface side of an upper-lower intermediate portion of the bag body and connects a tip extending downward from the base end to the lap belt side and a length dimension is set a dimension in which a connecting portion connecting the base end of the bag body can be pulled toward the lap belt side.

An occupant protection device, protecting an occupant seated in a seat, includes: a seat belt; and an airbag which is arranged in an area of a lap belt in the seat belt. The airbag includes a bag body and a regulatory tether. A thigh abutment surface abutting on a thigh of the occupant is arranged on a lower surface side of the bag body, and an upper body restraining surface restraining an upper body of the occupant is arranged on a rear surface side. The airbag is configured in such a way as to protrude from the holding body owing to an inflating gas being caused to flow into an interior, and inflate in such a way as to cover a region in front of the occupant, and includes an occupant side wall portion that is disposed on the occupant side when inflation is completed, and can restrain an upper body of the occupant. The occupant side wall portion is such that a lower side restraining face, which can restrain a range from an abdominal portion to a chest portion of the occupant, and an upper side restraining face, which can restrain a head portion or a shoulder portion of the occupant, are disposed on a rear face side when inflation is completed, and a bended portion is disposed in a boundary region between the upper side restraining face and the lower side restraining face in such a way as to cause the upper side restraining face to protrude to the occupant side with respect to the lower side restraining face.

A safety restraint system for a vehicle that includes seat belts that extend over both side pelvic portions and both side rib cage portions of the vehicle occupant and directly prevents inward and outward lateral displacement of the side pelvic portions and side rib cage portions during a side collision event. Said side belts attach to a forward-facing seat belt system with two shoulder belts, one on either side of the neck, for improved performance on the torso in a collision event, and a lap belt, while still maintaining the convenience of a single buckle click task for the occupant to secure the belt system.
