A winding drum used for winding a safety belt extends in the axial direction and is rotatably supported in a frame of a retractor. A gear mechanism is installed at one side of the winding drum through a force limiting mechanism and comprises a stop wheel and a ball gear which are riveted and fixedly connected in the axial direction. The stop wheel is rotatably installed on the frame, and the ball gear comprises a penetrating shaft hole. The force limiting mechanism is inserted into the shaft hole in the axial direction and both ends of the force limiting mechanism are respectively connected with the winding drum and the gear mechanism to prevent passengers from being excessively restrained by realizing the force limiting function. The gear mechanism and the force limiting mechanism are directly assembled to the winding drum, with simple steps and few independent components.

Load limiting seatbelt retractor

A seatbelt retractor includes a base, a spool, a cylinder, a transfer plate, and a cylinder lock. The spool is rotatably coupled to the base and has a piston portion. The cylinder is engaged with the piston portion and therewith defines a chamber. The piston portion is movable from a first position to a second position. The transfer plate is translateably disposed in the first chamber. The cylinder lock in a first condition rotatably fixes the cylinder to the base. Damping fluid is in the chamber.

Load limiting seatbelt retractor

A seatbelt retractor includes a base, a spool, a cylinder, a sleeve and a cylinder lock. The spool is rotatably coupled to the base and has a piston portion. A smaller initialization piston extends from the piston portion. The cylinder is engaged with the piston portion and therewith defines a first chamber. The sleeve is within the cylinder and receives the initialization piston. The sleeve and the initialization piston define an initialization chamber. The cylinder lock in a first condition rotatably fixes the cylinder to the base. Damping fluid is disposed in the chamber.

Webbing take-up device

A webbing take-up device includes a spool that takes up a webbing worn by an occupant, and that is rotated in a pull-out direction due to the webbing being pulled out, and a lock base that limits pull-out direction rotation of the spool in a vehicle emergency. The webbing take-up device further includes an energy absorbing wire that undergoes deformation so as to permit pull-out direction rotation of the spool at or above a force limiter load when the lock base has limited pull-out direction rotation of the spool, and a second force limiter mechanism that adjusts the pressing force of the energy absorbing wire according to a remaining take-up amount of the webbing on the spool.

SELF-LOCKING BELT RETRACTOR FOR A SEAT BELT DEVICE OF A MOTOR VEHICLE

A self-locking belt retractor for a seat belt device of a motor vehicle with a belt shaft body and a profile head, and a blocking device with a blocking catch mounted on the profile head. When activated, the blocking device engages in a blocked position with a vehicle-affixed interlock for the purpose of blocking the belt shaft in the belt extension direction. A force-limiting device is disposed in the force transmission path from the belt shaft body to the blocking catch. The profile head is made as two parts, with a carrier component and an insert component which are affixed together. The insert component exhibits a higher resistance to deformation than the carrier component and, when the belt shaft is blocked, forms part of the force transmission path between the blocking catch and the force-limiting device.

COVER FOR A SEATBELT RETRACTOR ASSEMBLY TO REDUCE AUDIBLE NOISE AND A SEATBELT RETRACTOR ASSEMBLY INCLUDING THE COVER

A cover for a seatbelt retractor assembly comprising: a first layer having an inside surface configured to face a seatbelt webbing retracted by a seatbelt retractor assembly, an outside surface configured to face away from the seatbelt webbing, a plurality of holes disposed through the first layer from the inside surface through to the outside surface, and baffles adjacent each of the plurality of holes. The cover reduces audible noise generated by moving components of the seatbelt retractor assembly. The baffles adjacent each of the plurality of holes are disposed on the inside surface. The cover can further include a second layer, which includes a sound absorbing material such as foam. The second layer at least partially covers the outside surface of the first layer and covers the plurality of holes. The cover can further include snap fit fastening elements to connect the cover to the seatbelt retractor assembly.

Load-limiting seatbelt retractor

A seatbelt retractor includes a frame and a spool having a first end and a second end each rotatably supported by the frame. The spool is elongated on an axis from the first end to the second end. The seatbelt retractor includes a plurality of torsion posts fixed to the frame. The seatbelt retractor includes a locking device operatively coupled between the spool and the plurality of torsion posts.

Seat belt retractor with load limiting stop mechanism

A seat belt retractor comprises a rotatable spool on which seat belt webbing is wound. The spool is rotatable in a webbing withdrawal direction and an opposite webbing retraction direction. The seat belt retractor also comprises a pretensioner actuatable to rotate the spool in the webbing retraction direction and a load-limiting system to limit a load applied to a vehicle occupant by the seat belt webbing. The load-limiting system includes a torsion bar mounted such that the torsion bar is twisted when a load in excess of a predetermined load is applied to the spool in the webbing withdrawal direction by the seat belt webbing. The bad-limiting system also includes a stop assembly actuatable to limit rotation of the spool in the webbing withdrawal direction to a predetermined number of rotations while the torsion bar is being twisted. The stop assembly is actuated upon actuation of the pretensioner.
