PLANTS COMPRISING A LOW COPY NUMBER OF RI GENES
20180223294 · 2018-08-09 ·

Described is a plant transformed with one or more genes originating from the Ri plasmid of Agrobacterium rhizogenes by infection with A. rhizogenes comprising the Ri plasmid, or being progeny of such a plant, said plant or progeny comprising, in the genome thereof, 1 to 5 copies said one or more genes originating from the Ri plasmid. Further, the use of such a plant or progeny thereof as ornamental plants, the use as field crop species, for food extracts, cosmetics, perfumes or as medicinal plants is disclosed. Further disclosed are methods for the preparation of such plants. Said plants display an intermediate height and/or with a higher content of metabolites without significant reduction of flower number or flowering time delay as compared to control plants void of Agrobacterium rhizogenes sequences.

Mildew Resistance Gene in Kalanchoe

Provided herein are proteins capable of providing a mildew resistant phenotype, or mildew resistance, to plants belonging to the Kalanchoe genus. Also provided herein are nucleic acid sequences, or cDNA sequences, and genes encoding the present proteins. Further provided herein are methods using the proteins, nucleic acid sequences and genes for selecting mildew resistant Kalanchoe plants, such as Oidium kalanchoeae resistant Kalanchoe plants, and to generate mildew resistant Kalanchoe plants, such as Oidium kalanchoeae resistant Kalanchoe plants, comprising the present proteins, mRNA forms of the present cDNAs or the present genes.

BOUQUET OF CUT FLOWERS

Described is a flower bouquet conferring extended freshness to an aqueous nutrient medium for keeping cut flowers, as well as a method to confer a prolonged longevity to one or more cut flowers, comprising the step of allowing one or more cut flowers, with the cut surface of the stem thereof, to be in contact with the said aqueous nutrient medium.
