A REMOTELY ACTIVATED VEHICLE ANTI-THEFT DEVICE
20190202403 · 2019-07-04 ·

A remotely activated vehicle anti-theft device 10 and system 50 for preventing vehicle theft is provided. The device 10 is moved between unlocked, locked and priority locked states using either a wireless vehicle remote 51 or a mobile phone 52. The mobile phone 52 enjoys priority over the remote control 51 and overrides it when the device is in its priority locked state. It includes a pivotal locking member 17 which is movable between an open position (unlocked state) in which the member is spaced away from a gear 12, permitting it to rotate freely, and a locked position (locked and priority locked states), in which the member 17 engages the gear 12 and prevents rotation thereof, thereby immobilising a vehicle. The device 10 includes an ECU 22, wireless communication module 34, actuator 23, GPS 6 and speed sensor 7 housed in a tamper-proof casing 27.

A biometric shifter for a vehicle includes a shifter body having an outer surface with a grip portion configured to be gripped by an operator's hand, the shifter body defining a chamber, the grip portion having an opening that communicates with the chamber, a vein reader sensor disposed within the chamber at a first distance from the opening in the grip portion, wherein the first distance is configured to optimize biometric verification of an operator's hand on the grip portion of the shifter body.

METHOD FOR UNLOCKING A MOTOR VEHICLE AND FOR ENABLING AN ENGINE START OF A MOTOR VEHICLE
20240198760 · 2024-06-20 ·

A method for unlocking and enabling an engine start a motor vehicle using a vehicle key involves the motor vehicle having at least one outer node for wireless connection with the vehicle key outside an interior of the motor vehicle, at least one inner node for wireless connection with the vehicle key inside the interior of the motor vehicle, and a control system. The method involves first producing a wireless connection between the vehicle key and the outer node, and then unlocking the motor vehicle. The method then involves forcibly ending the existing wireless connection between the vehicle key and the outer node and then forcibly producing a new wireless connection between the vehicle key and the inner node.
